About

Thirteen years ago, Eduardo Rukos and Pedro Evia dreamed of creating a place where tradition and avant-garde united. Their vision became a reality with the birth of their restaurant, Kuuk.

This prominent Merida dining spot is known for its sophisticated approach to traditional Yucatecan cuisine. Kuuk has created a niche by crafting cuisine rich with cultural authenticity that includes a contemporary flair.

Kuuk is conveniently situated near notable landmarks like Paseo Montejo and the iconic Monumento a la Patria. During the day, you can visit these attractions and then have a stellar meal at Kuuk.

The heart of the Kuuk menu reflects Chef Pedro and Santiago's passion for Yucatecan food and age-old recipes fused with modern techniques. Their hard work and passion have paid off, with coveted features in various international food publications.

Equally impressive is Kuuk's historic facade and regal interior, which set the stage for the evening. It's the culmination of Chef Pedro and Eduardo's dream to combine traditional with avant-garde.

When your Marida vacation calls for gourmet cuisine in an innovative setting, make a reservation at Kuuk for a taste of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Vibe

Pulling up to Kuuk, you'll wonder if you're on a movie set or in a fairy tale. The exterior's colonial architectural style pays homage to Merida's past and is elegant, to say the least!

Inside, the glamor continues with vaulted ceilings, marble floors, and crystal chandeliers. Contrasting this is a dining area with modern touches like the linen-draped ceiling, ceiling fans, checkerboard tiling, and contemporary tables.

No matter which area you are seated in, the mood is rich with elegance that never becomes pretentious. The setting is perfect for a romantic or celebratory dinner after a day exploring the Museo Quinta Montes Molina (Quinta Montes Molina.) And if you have a large group, Kuuk can accommodate them with its banquet-style seating fit for a king!

The bar area is palatial, with tall columns guarding either end and wood accents adding elegance and warmth to the mood. Small tables spill out into the room for casual rendezvous and intimate gatherings.

Kuuk offers a dining atmosphere unlike anything in the region, making it a top attraction with vacationers.

Kuuk: Menu & Drinks

Chef Eduardo and Pedro have fashioned a menu celebrating Yucatecan culinary traditions. You'll discover their penchant for adding a modern flare with must-try items like the Fruit Ceviche. The colorful and flavorful appetizer features fresh, local fruit in a champagne sauce with Ramonetti cheese serum and violet liqueur.

The Smoked Shrimp is another favorite that showcases freshly caught prawns. The Oaxaca cheese sauce enhances the combination of smoky flavor with the tenderness of the shrimp. The fava beans and epazote round out this entree, making it filling, tasty, and delectable.

For adventurous palates, the Tikinxic Octopus is a winner. The octopus is grilled and complemented by a rich mole sauce featuring annatto and sour orange. Add a side of local vegetables, and you have the perfect balance of textures and flavors that exemplifies Kuuk's innovative fare.

The beverage menu is equally impressive at Kuuk. With a full bar, a remarkable wine list, and mixologists who can craft any concoction imaginable, there's something for everyone at this esteemed establishment. After a day out of town exploring Progreso, it's nice to unwind with a signature cocktail, a glass of wine, or any of their non-alcoholic options.

Dining at Kuuk is a must on any vacation to Merida. It offers a stimulating culinary journey through the Yucatan Peninsula.
