About

B.B. King’s Blues Club, on the corner of Beale Street and 2nd in the heart of Memphis, serves as a lasting tribute to the music icon. In addition, this is where visitors can enjoy Southern hospitality, the authentic spirit of the blues, and a memorable dining experience.

The restaurant is named after legendary blues musician B.B. King, whose preeminent blues sound is interwoven with Beale Street and Memphis's history. Notably, after arriving in Memphis from Mississippi, King’s radio moniker was “The Beale Street Blues Boy”, which eventually became B.B.

Opened in 1991 during the Beale Street Blues Festival, B.B. King's Blues Club is an unmistakable gateway to the ‘Home of the Blues’. Its development was a key part of efforts to redevelop the legendary street. Today, the restaurant and live music offerings are a staple of Memphis nightlife.

The restaurant’s prime location is just steps from the Blues Hall of Fame and iconic landmarks such as the Orpheum Theatre. This makes it a central hub for exploring Memphis’ rich cultural and musical heritage.

The club blends live blues, soul, and rock with Southern flavors of Memphis-style barbecue, fried okra, and shrimp & grits. The family-style atmosphere is perfect for locals and tourists alike, looking to soak in an unforgettable experience to feed the body and soul. Above the restaurant, diners will also be thrilled to explore Itta Bena, named for the town where B.B. King was born.

Vibe

Visitors to Beale Street cannot miss the restaurant’s massive, eye-catching guitar-shaped neon sign lighting up the intersection at 2nd St. The vibrant sign invites guests to step inside for an unforgettable experience. Moreover, the dual restaurant and club concept ensures a unique experience for diners.

The electric energy of Beale Street spills into the restaurant, fused with classic Southern charm, vintage blues flair, and glowing neon accents. One corner of the restaurant pays subtle tribute to B.B. King’s legendary guitars, all of which he named Lucille. From there, diners can enjoy a direct view of the stage as it comes to life each night.

The walls are adorned with memorabilia celebrating the legacy of blues music, from framed photos of legendary musicians, authentic decor, and guitar art. When space near the stage opens up for dancing, you can bet the blues-filled air creates a festive mood in the appropriately darkened and relaxed surroundings.

B.B. King’s Blues Club: Menu & Drinks

The menu is a soulful celebration of Southern cuisine, with dishes that perfectly complement the electrifying musical atmosphere.

One standout on the menu is BB’s famous lip-smacking ribs. These slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs are often hailed by diners as some of the best in Memphis.

Other timeless favorites are the jambalaya pasta and the Bayou shrimp & grits. These both pay homage to classic Southern cooking. Not to be outdone, the seafood platter featuring crawfish poppers along with fried catfish and shrimp is another crowd favorite. Pulled-pork sandwiches, burgers, and Po’Boys on the menu make sure there’s something for everyone. There is also a kids’ menu.

To pair with the Southern-style dishes, the drink menu at B.B. King’s Blues Clubs serves up a variety of specialty cocktails along with a fine selection of beers and wines. Each cocktail, many with names paying homage to the legendary surroundings, provides bold flavors and a unique personality.

The signature “Lucille” cocktail is a must-try, named after B.B. King’s legendary guitar. This refreshing blend combines citrus tones with a smooth sweetness, making it a perfect drink to pair with any meal. Another show-stopping option is the Southern Hurricane, a sweet yet potent concoction with a fruity twist that pays homage to the vibrant spirit of the South.
