About

When it comes to hearty, all-American comfort food with a nostalgic twist, look no further than HWY 55!

This isn't your run-of-the-mill diner or some rundown greasy spoon joint. HWY 55 is a blast from the past with a modern twist, taking you on a journey to the good old days of classic American diners.

The story of HWY 55 begins in a small North Carolina town in 1991. Kenney Moore opened Andy's Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers in a mall, where he cooked every burger from morning until dark. Because he couldn't afford a traditional kitchen, he cooked in plain sight of customers.

But this simple start taught Kenney something: when you're at an open grill, you can greet every customer.

In time, Kenney would launch Hwy 55, applying the life lesson he learned at Andy's to every franchise.

Kenney knew that chatting with counter guests while carefully preparing meals reflected his values of people bonding over excellent service and tasty food.

Vibe

The vibe at HWY 55 can best be described as "modernized nostalgia." The exterior's clean lines, bright colors, and large windows beckon you toward this classic retro diner.

The inside is as clean and welcoming as the outside. With stained concrete floors, spotless wooden tables, and a bar studded with red vinyl stools, the classic diner spirit flows through the space.

The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly, making it an ideal spot for a casual meal with loved ones. The staff at HWY 55 are known for their friendly and welcoming service, adding to the overall sense of warmth and hospitality.

The moment you step through the door, you will sense HWY 55's motto, "Love your neighbor. " This atmosphere and lifestyle make for a pleasant dining experience.

HWY 55: Menu & Drinks

If you weren't convinced by HWY 55's diner vibes, the food and drinks will do the trick! The menu is an homage to classic American diner fare, emphasizing burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and frozen custard.

Looking for an unexpected taste of the south? Try the pimento cheeseburger! This mouthwatering masterpiece features a hefty beef patty, topped with a generous scoop of classic pimento cheese and two strips of crispy bacon that's simply irresistible.

The Philly Cheese Steak is a fantastic choice for those craving a taste of Philadelphia. Tender strips of steak, sautéed mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and melted cheese served on a hoagie roll make every bite a savory delight.

No visit to HWY 55 is complete without indulging in one of their frozen custard. From scoops to concretes and sundaes, your sweet tooth will thank you! There are even shakes and floats for those who want to sip their frozen custard rather than use a spoon.

Regarding drinks, HWY 55 offers a variety of beverages, including classic sodas and iced tea, to complement your meal. And, of course, there's no shortage of milkshake flavors to choose from.

When visiting Lookout Mountain and you want to feel appreciated and savor Americana classics, HWY 55 won't disappoint!
