Hey Good Lookin’ Mural

As I was looking for things to do in Austin, Texas, I decided I wanted to find a few great Instagram-worthy locations to check out. It was a clear, bright day, so I set out on foot to check out the area. 

And to my surprise, I found the Hey Good Lookin’ Mural right across the street from the hotel I was staying at. 

This mural offers a stunning background with a fun modern feel. And having seen a lot of murals here in Austin (you can actually take a walking tour of many of them), this one is really worth checking out.

There is not a lot of information about this mural available. However, it’s still one of the best, in my opinion—and worth a visit. Interestingly, most of the Austin murals have a ton of information and insight into why they are created, but this one is different. 

The mural is painted on the side of The Quincy Luxury Apartment Community building and showcases a big, blue background image. 

The words “Hey, Good Lookin” are in the center of the mural. Surrounding it are numerous brightly colored flowers, beautiful detailing, and a few fun animals. The vibrant colors of this mural are one of the best reasons to visit it. 

And you’ll also find It offers the perfect background for wedding photos (I saw a couple there having their photos taken with a fun, humorous pose or two). 

The vibrancy of the Hey Good Lookin’ Mural leaves me with the impression that it is well-maintained. The colors have not faded over time, and it looks stunning, much like a photo background rather than a painted wall.

If you’re looking for a great selfie spot, I definitely recommend taking a quick stop here! 

Fun and Interesting Facts About Hey Good Lookin’ Mural

While I was there, I noticed that the mural has a note painted on it that says “With Love From Rainey Street” along with the Quincy logo. After doing more research, and with little to be found—I came to the conclusion that this cute mural was commissioned by the luxury apartment community as an added feature for everyone to enjoy. 

And since The Quincy is an impressive space with some of the most luxurious condos and apartments in the Highland Lakes region, it makes sense. The mural has a very modern, artistic vibe to it and seems to be on brand. 

So if you are staying in The Quincy or even visiting the area, make sure to walk around the lobby and check out some of the fantastic art throughout it. Keep in mind not everyone can get into the building since it is for residents only, but if you know someone there, I’d say make time to take a look!

And while you’re on Rainy Street, I recommend taking a walk around the area.  The Hey Good Lookin’ Mural is a good starting place since there is a coffee shop right across the street. 

Make sure you take in some of the others, like the “I Love You So Much Austin” mural, and drive along the 6th Street Historic District to take in a few more.

You won’t be disappointed! 

Getting There

The Hey Good Lookin’ Mural is located on Rainey St, right off Red River Street. It is on the side of a large condo building. As you approach the Electric Shuffle, you will see it right next door on the side of the condo building. It’s also across the street from the Hotel Van Zandt. If you are staying there, take a quick walk over to Café 605, and the mural is across the street.

Cost

There is no cost to viewing the mural. You can see it as you walk along the street.
