Which Rocky Point Resort is the Best For You?
Choosing the right resort in Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) can make or break your vacation—especially for first-timers. With so many great options, each offering its own vibe and perks, it’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed. That’s why we’ve created this handy guide highlighting the pros and cons of some of the most popular spots: Sonoran Sky, Sonoran Sea, Sonoran Sun, Encantame Towers, Bella Sirena, and Princesa de Peñasco. New additions include Sonoran Star in town and Encantame Soleil right next to Encantame Towers.
Encantame Towers
If you crave a peaceful escape from the busy resort strip and town, Encantame Towers delivers. Tucked away on Playa Encanto about 20 minutes from central Rocky Point, this brand-new luxury development features three striking 24-story towers with 100 spacious condos each, spread across 140 acres.
Units range from 1 to 3 bedrooms (900–2,400 sq. ft.) and boast high-end finishes like Smeg appliances, marble baths, recessed lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping ocean views. Corner units come with impressive wrap-around patios.
Highlights: Multiple large heated pools (including a kiddie pool), jacuzzis, a swim-up bar with food from the on-site Santo Coyote Ocean Cantina, Blue Palm Cafe serving Starbucks drinks and breakfast, plus a completed fitness center and massage rooms. Future amenities will include lazy rivers, a driving range, an adult-only rooftop pool, and more.
Note: As a work-in-progress property, some construction activity is still ongoing.
Sonoran Sky
Sonoran Sky stands out as a guest-favorite on the eastern end of Blvd. Dr. Ernesto Guevara del Campo. This sleek, single-building resort offers all-oceanfront 1- to 4-bedroom condos, including luxurious top-floor penthouses, each with oversized balconies perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset drinks.
The elegant lobby welcomes you with friendly staff, comfortable seating, a gift shop/mini-market, and easy access to everything. Enjoy ocean views from the gym, a full spa on the second floor, an oceanfront dining room, kids’ playground with BBQ areas, and excellent event space with catering options.
Outside, two large pools feature a swim-up bar, jacuzzis, and a fun children’s waterslide into the kiddie pool. The beachfront Tiki Bar is ideal for relaxing with a drink while listening to the waves.
You’ll love the convenient layout and top-notch service here.
Bella Sirena
For a full-service, low-density luxury experience on Sandy Beach, head to Bella Sirena. Spanning 14 acres with just 220 condos and beach homes across five 8-story towers and 20 beachside villas, it blends space with a cozy, intimate feel.
Choose from charming 1- or 2-bedroom units featuring beautiful Mexican details like colorful tiled ceilings. On-site amenities are plentiful: five pools (including a stunning zero-edge infinity pool overlooking the Sea of Cortez), two jacuzzis, a putting green, tennis and bocce ball courts, mini-golf, and a fitness center.
This is the perfect resort if you want to stay put and enjoy everything without leaving the property.
Note: The expansive grounds mean more walking, though many guests see that as a bonus for stretching their legs.
Sonoran Sea
Built in 2004 as the second Sonoran Resorts property, Sonoran Sea offers a welcoming vibe with its East and West towers and 228 condos. Enjoy 1- to 4-bedroom units with spacious balconies facing the Sea of Cortez, direct beach access, and a swim-up bar with water views.
Choose from three pools (one heated) and two jacuzzis. Friendly, knowledgeable staff make your stay seamless, while the nice lobby leads to a convenience market/gift shop, Ramon’s Restaurant, and an on-site dive shop offering beginner classes in the pool.
Additional perks include a well-equipped fitness center, kids’ activity center, BBQ areas, tennis courts, a playground, and 24-hour security.
Note: Parking near the buildings can fill up quickly, and elevators may run slower on busy weekends, sometimes requiring a short walk.
Princesa de Peñasco
As the first high-rise on Sandy Beach, Princesa de Peñasco brings classic Rocky Point charm with its 1- to 3-bedroom condos, each featuring balconies or patios ideal for morning coffee. Interiors range from original furnishings to sleek modern renovations, so there’s a style to suit every taste.
Amenities shine with three pools (including a swim-up bar), a jacuzzi, a clubhouse gym, sand volleyball, bocce ball courts, BBQ grills, and a convenient on-site store. Colin’s Cantina serves up the best craft beer selection in town alongside tasty American and Mexican dishes. The beach offers plenty of tables and palapas for relaxing.
Note: Parking can be tricky during peak times, and you’ll take a short walk across the large property to reach the beach.
Sonoran Sun
The third Sonoran Resort (opened in 2005), Sonoran Sun boasts a thoughtfully designed layout with East and West towers positioned closest to the Sea of Cortez for easy beach access and nearby activities like banana boat and ATV rentals.
All 1- to 4-bedroom condos include spacious sea-facing balconies. A lovely garden area sits between the towers, while on-site options include Emiliano’s restaurant, a sports bar, and a gift shop/convenience store. The ground-level gym has modern equipment, and you’ll find beach palapas, kayak and boogie board rentals, plus great spaces for beach or indoor weddings and events.
Note: The restaurant isn’t open continuously, and parking near the towers is limited.
