Unique Events at Shrimp Park in Rocky Point, Mexico

Heading to Rocky Point? Make sure to add a stop at Shrimp Park for the lively Mermaid’s Market, held on the 1st and 3rd weekends of each month (skipping the peak summer heat from June through September). You’ll find it right at the traffic light en route to Las Conchas, across from City Hall.

Shopping at the Mermaid’s Market

Running strong for over a decade, this open-air market brings together local artisans, live music, mouthwatering BBQ, and fresh tamales. Plan to linger from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., mixing shopping with bites to eat. Browse one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry from talented local creators. Grab a custom card from Creative Card Therapy for any occasion, or light up your space with Beverly’s hand-decorated shell art wine bottle lamps.

Local photographers showcase striking before-and-after shots of old versus new Puerto Peñasco. For standout women’s fashion, check out Carlotta Blanco’s hand-painted dresses, tops, and pants, or Naomi Black’s distinctive dresses, jackets, jewelry, and purses. Tony Ballesteros offers unique home décor pieces, while Maria’s beautiful blankets and shawls make perfect souvenirs.

Mermaid’s Market Food

Savor Rocky Point BBQ House’s tender pulled pork sandwiches and flavorful racks of ribs, paired with grilled sausage and cornbread. Don’t miss Javier and Linda’s banana-leaf-wrapped tamales—packed with meat and famously the best in town. Swing by the on-site bar for  ever-changing specialty cocktails, or pick up fresh sourdough bread, cookies, and pies from the local baker.

Even outside the market stalls, a small white building in the park serves up juicy cheeseburgers and hot fries at wallet-friendly prices—straight off the grill.

Annual Fish Bowl Event in Shrimp Park

Every year, the Rotary Club Mar de Peñasco hosts the “Fish Bowl” food and art fair on the Saturday just before the Super Bowl. This popular fundraiser supports vital community projects like health initiatives, clean drinking water for schools, education programs, and free dental and vision clinics. Funds go where they’re needed most to keep these efforts going strong all year.

It’s a true seafood lover’s dream with plenty of surf-and-turf options from local restaurants. The event draws big crowds, so arrive early and settle in for the day. Grab an ice-cold beer or specialty drink to go with your meal. Tickets (around $1 USD each) are sold at the entrance and redeemable for food and drinks—letting you sample dishes from top spots at a great value.

Beyond the food, enjoy live music and browse the art section for photography, jewelry, and other pieces that capture the spirit of your Rocky Point getaway. It’s a fun, flavorful way to support the local community while discovering your new favorite eats.
