For those who are unfamiliar with the sport, ultralight flying is essentially recreational aviation — traveling by airplane at low speeds and low altitudes. When most of us think about flying, visions of large commercial planes come to mind. But, for adventurers seeking a different kind of flight experience, there's a smaller, more intimate and accessible option.

Ultralight flights are a type of small aircraft that looks like a motorized tricycle with a wing on top of it. Typically flown by a single person, if offers an incredibly unique flying experience. It glides effortlessly in the air because of its well-designed structure, but it can also land and take off from the beach thanks to its small yet strong motor and three wheels. With the little separation between you and the ground (or water), the sense of speed and freedom is unbeatable. These motorized vehicles fly so low and so much slower than any regular airplane that you can really take in the scenery and even wave at the tourists on the beach as you fly above.

The pilots of these Ultralights, spend many hours training to give you a safe and professional ride. Many times in the afternoon, you will see them maneuver the planes up high above the condos or soar up and then dive down. When you take decide to go up, you can even tell the pilot what you would like to do and see, so they can make your trip the experience of a lifetime! Make sure to take your camera or cell phone to get some unbelievable footage. Though, we highly recommend you bring a GoPro or other type of sport appropriate camera as you definitely don't want to lose it in the ocean!

There are several places where you can go to enjoy this exciting activity. The prices are in the same range everywhere unless you make a deal with the vendors. Normally, they are $40-50 USD per person and $100 for two. The activity lasts for just about 10-15 minutes not including take off and landing. So let the deck hand strap you in and it will be up, up, and away! You will go up several hundred feet in the air.
