Palm trees line Blvd. Cocoteros as it winds along the dunes above Rocky Point’s Sandy Beach. Here is where you will find the town’s best-known Resorts; venues that place comfortable, accessible luxury within reach, just an hour south of the US border on the coast of Mexico. Each Resort here has it’s own personality and style. At the center of this stretch of beach is the elegant and classic Sonoran Sea Resort. Cantera stone, handset tile work, and the opulent interior of the main lobby set the tone with understated elegance. The East and West towers of the Sonoran Sea form a shallow V shape that places every condominium close to the beach. All units have enviable ocean views beyond the distinctive green iron railings on oversized patios. Of the many repeat visitors to the Sonoran Sea, it is common to find fans of the sunset facing East Building, or those that prefer sweeping views along the beach to the city lights on Whale Hill from the West Building.
Stretching between the arms of these two towers are the Sonoran Sea’s 3 oceanside swimming pools. Along with 2 jacuzzis, lots of chaise lounges, and the friendliest of friendly swim-up bars, a row of palm leaf covered palapas offer a shady base for a day spent enjoying serious beach fun.
Wide tide swings make the beach ever-changing. Here you will find vendors selling silver jewelry, offering hair braiding, and preparing fresh Mangoes topped with chili and a squirt lime juice. Wade into the warm waters, and hail a Banana Boat for a wild ride, or rent your own Jet Skis. Paddleboarding, kayaking, or just floating weightless in the sparkling warm waters are all great options as well. Depending on the time of day, or day of the week, you may find that you have this beautiful place mostly to yourself!Enhancing your stay at the Sonoran Sea are nice touches like an on-site coffee bar and convenience store and a surprisingly complete gym with views out to the waves. Ramon’s Restaurant has a big following, especially for Sunday Brunches. Also on the secure grounds, you will find 2 BBQ areas, a children’s play zone, as well as a tennis court.
The Sonoran Sea offers various floor plans for couples up to larger groups in the top floor penthouses. Complete kitchens, washer and dryers, and unbeatable views are part of every unit. All condominiums include roomy patios, with interiors that are spacious with the feel of a home away from home.
Unique among the Resort along Blvd. Cocoteros, you can walk to some of the most popular entertainment choices, right outside the gates. No driving to town, no taxi required. Off-road vehicle rentals are here, ready for a ride on the dunes and trails heading inland. Here you will also find Banditos bar and Restaurant, home to Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers when they are in town. There is Chango’s as well, famed for seafood dishes, live music, and it’s own pool bar. Garufa Steak House, Sonoran Grill, and the Sonoran Spa are all less than five minutes beyond the lobby.
