About
With a touch of German quality, Kaffeehaus is one of the Peñasco restaurants that is always busy for breakfast or lunch (not open for dinner). And for good reason. Homemade bread, pastries (try the authentic strudel!) and great daily specials vie with the outstanding European style regular menu.
In addition, you will find waffles, huevos rancheros, large combo plates, and espresso drinks for breakfast. Also for lunch, try the Cobb salad, or the very big and delicious hamburger topped with blue cheese and grilled onions.
Built on a hill near the entrance to the fun Old Port area, this house-like Restaurant offers seating on different levels. No two tables are the same. Moreover, memorabilia lines the walls. Photos, toys, and posters, conjure up Old Europe. In addition to the charming interior, out front you will find a shaded dining patio, with views of the boats in the Marina nearby.
When a place is almost always busy, that’s a good sign. German native Chef Uwe has been bringing his talents to bear for years at Kaffeehaus, and it is one of the Rocky Point Mexico Restaurants that is a favorite with both locals and tourists. Moreover, the menu and daily specials reflect the Chefs German roots with items like schnitzel, and sausages with sauerkraut. You will find it across from the Marina as you enter the Old Port.
Items We Recommend from Kaffeehaus
Kaffeehaus Burger
There is none other like it in town! First, this super thick burger is topped with grilled onions and crumbled bleu cheese. Second, it gets tasty bacon strips on a slightly crusty home-made bun. On the side you also get your choice of nicely done fries or the cold & crisp house salad. The house salad comes with lettuce, red cabbage, tomato, grated Parmesan cheese, with an acidic vinaigrette dressing.
Apple Strudel
The pastry case is always tempting, with Chocolate Mousse Cake, Lemon Cake, big and soft chocolate chip cookies, and more. One stand out is the Apple Strudel, made fresh daily with tart apples, crispy pie crust, and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. After this, you can officially say that lunch is finished!
Greek Farmers Breakfast
If you like a big breakfast, Kaffeehaus is the place to go! There are lots of choices for classic Mexican, or American style items to start your day. Alternatively, you can give the Greek Farmers Breakfast a try. Eggs scrambled with peppers, tomatoes, spinach Feta cheese and olives. I imagine that even real Greek Farmers would have to split this one sometimes!
