Beaches
Are there really beaches in Tucson? The answer is maybe; in addition to Romero Canyon Pools at nearby Catalina State Park, there is a beach at Patagonia Lake State Park. Family friendly, Patagonia State Park has a beach area and small lake for swimming.
Additionally, there is a plethora of swimming pools and splash pads within the city itself.
Golfing
The area of Tucson is home to more than 40 golf courses, so you will have a great choice while you are staying in one of the vacation rentals that are nearby. With a setting of the beautiful Sonoran Desert, golfing is at its unique best. Play on the Omni Tucson National’s Catalina Course, home of the Cologuard Classic, or the companion Sonoran Course. Both are open for resort and daily fee play.
Enjoy a game at El Conquistador Golf at the Oro Valley Community Center. Its 18-hole Cañada Course is ideal for family golfing.
Sewailo Golf Club is located at Casino Del Sol Resort, Spa and Conference Center and is a must for golf lovers. With a setting of 14 lakes and 40,000 native plants, you will have a memorable game at this course designed by Ty Butler/Notah Begay.

The Mountain Course at The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf Club has a famous third hole; it is named “Hole in the Wall” and has been photographed extensively. Play at any of these courses as well as the city’s municipal golf courses.
Lakes and Mountains
Hike or bike the Santa Catalina Mountains to the North that are part of the Coronado National Forest. Mount Lemmon is at 9,147 feet and is the southernmost ski destination in the U.S. Numerous trails dot the mountains; on the Romero Pools Trail you will see deep pools and a swimming hole. Blackett’s Ridge Trail offers extensive panoramic views as well as an intense hike.
Travel east to the Rincon Mountain Wilderness area, where you can hike and visit the Colossal Cave Mountain Park, a stunning 2,400-acre desert park. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, if offers easy hiking trails.

Lake areas are nearby for fishing, especially within the city. Outside of the city, the state parks, such as Patagonia State Park, offer lakes for swimming and recreation.
