Getting to Loreto
There are many ways to get to the city. The easiest way is to fly into the local airport. The local airport is small and easy to navigate. There are daily connecting flights to Guadalajara, Mexico City and Los Angeles. Once you have landed, it is easy to reach the city. The airport is only located ten minutes outside of the city. Taxis are always waiting outside the airport terminal to bring you to your destination. There are also shuttle services that will take you to a specific destination. Flying into the city is a relaxing way to travel to your destination.
If you are already in Mexico, you may be able to travel to the city by bus. Local companies offer daily buses to and from the city. Daily times are available at the closest bus station. Be aware that taking the bus is most effective if you are nearby the city. Bus rides across Mexico can be lengthy. For example, the bus ride from Tijuana to your destination is 22 hours. If you are far from the city, consider using a different form of transportation than the bus.
You can also travel to the city by driving your own car. Your destination is about a 16 to 20 hour drive from the United States border. While it can be a long drive, you will get to experience the beautiful scenery and have the ability to stop and explore wherever you like. Having your own car can also be to your advantage as it provides reliable transportation within the city limits.
Getting Around Loreto
Once you are in the city, there are a few different ways to get around the city. The most common way to get to your destination is to take a cab. Cab companies provide affordable transportation. Taxi cabs are not metered in the city, so you will have to agree on a price before getting in the cab. Often times you can work with your hotel or resort to call a cab. The hotel or resort will have a posted price that the cab will charge you. It is to your advantage to use your hotel or resort to call you a cab. They will be able to find you safe and reliable transportation if you do not know the area or cannot speak Spanish. If you or someone you are traveling with can speak Spanish, you may be able to negotiate a lower rate. It is also important to know that Uber and Lyft are not reliable forms of transportation every part of the Baja Peninsula. If you are unsure, speak with your hotel and resort to see what they recommend.
Another way to get around the city is by biking or walking. Use caution while walking or biking. The city streets can become easily congested and not all signs are marked. You will want to make sure you have a map with you or the address of your resort with you in case you get lost. Bikes can be rented from local companies. If you decide to rent bikes, make sure to test that the bikes work and are safe before paying.
If you are interested in traveling outside of the city and around the Baja Peninsula, renting a car may be a good idea. Having your own car allows you to be more flexible and see more attractions. There are many reliable car rental agencies in the city. You can book your car rental in advance, or you can book your rental on-site. If you book your rental in advance, you may get a better deal and the model of car you prefer. You can pick up your car at the airport or at branch locations inside the city.
Navigating transportation and getting to the city can be intimidating. However, getting around can be simple once you learn a few tricks. If you ever have questions or feel unsure, be sure to ask your hotel or resort representative.
