Welcome to

Hawaii

Famous for warm weather, dramatic volcanic landscapes, lush valleys, pristine beaches, and distinct island vibes, Hawaii is a welcoming year-round destination rising from the floor of the Pacific Ocean. This chain of 137 volcanic islands stretches across 1500 miles in the Northern Pacific, offering eight major islands each with a unique personality.

From the vibrant city life and natural beauty of Oahu to Maui’s undeterred spirit and breathtaking landscapes winding along the Road to Hana, there’s no mistaking the laid-back welcoming atmosphere across the Islands of Aloha. Active volcanoes still build new land on the Big Island, while waterfalls, rainforests, and quiet bays fill the spaces in between. The ocean is never far, and neither is a great view.

People come to Hawaii for the obvious reasons: warm water, reliable sunshine, and beaches that fit every mood. Surfers chase legendary waves on Oahu's North Shore. Hikers tackle the Na Pali Coast on Kauai. Families snorkel calm reefs and watch the sunrise from Haleakala on Maui.

There's deep history here, too. The islands were settled by Polynesian voyagers more than a thousand years ago. King Kamehameha united them in 1810, and the Kingdom of Hawaii lasted until 1893. Hawaii became the 50th U.S. state in 1959, blending Native Hawaiian traditions with influences from across Asia and the Pacific.

That mix shows up on every plate. Try a fresh poke bowl, slow-roasted kalua pork from an underground imu, or a plate lunch piled with rice and macaroni salad. Save room for shaved ice and a malasada, a warm Portuguese donut you'll want more than once.

From the food to the landscape to the warm spirit of aloha, Hawaii gives you plenty of reasons to stay a little longer. Start planning your island getaway with Heavenly Vacations and see what makes these shores so unforgettable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hawaii’s mild-tropical climate makes it great year-round, but spring (April to early June) and fall (September to mid-December) bring pleasant weather and smaller crowds. Winter offers big surf and whale watching, while summer is warm, busy, and family-friendly. Year-round temperatures tend to range from high 70°F to high 80°F, with northeast trade winds bringing a cool breeze across the islands

There are five major commercial airports across four islands, with the main hub being the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) located in Honolulu on the island of Oahu.

Additional major airports are located on Maui and Kauai, as well as two on the Big Island. Short inter-island flights make hopping between islands quick and easy. Ferries connect Maui, Lanai, and Molokai for a scenic alternative.

Exploring all that Hawaii has to offer is generally best done off-the-beaten-path and at your own leisure, which makes renting a car a good idea. A rental car gives you the freedom to reach beaches, scenic drives, and local eateries. While Oahu offers more public transit and rideshares, a car still makes exploring easier. It’s worth keeping in mind that other islands do not offer as reliable transportation alternatives.

Choosing which Hawaiian island to visit depends on what type of vibe and pace you’re after.

  • Oahu is home to the vibrant state capital of Honolulu, blending city life with world-class surf and historic sites. Oahu is known as “The Gathering Place.”
  • Maui, “The Valley Isle” suits beach lovers and road trippers (Road to Hana) - and to many is the most breathtaking
  • Kauai, “The Garden Isle”, is popular among hikers and nature lovers as it offers the jagged sea cliffs of the Na Pali Coast, stunning views at Waimea Canyon, and lush valleys
  • The Big Island - Hawaii - features active volcanoes, lush rainforests, and remarkable black and green sand beaches. With more area to explore, the Big Island is great for road trips, variety, and dramatic landscape.
  • “The Friendly Isle” of Molokai along with Lanai “The Pineapple Isle” are two much quieter options during a Hawaiian getaway.
