Welcome to

Siesta Key

When you visit Siesta Key, you’ll quickly realize why this Gulf Coast destination is frequently voted one of the top beaches in the world. This eight-mile barrier island sits between the Gulf and Sarasota Bay, framed by swaying palms, gentle waves, and bone-white sand.

Siesta Key’s relaxing sands and impressive reputation attract visitors of all ages throughout the year. Families will love the shallow beach waters and the soft, cool quartz sands that are gentle on little feet. Couples can enjoy romantic sunset walks and waterfront fine dining, while retirees and snowbirds are drawn to the mild winters, laid-back atmosphere, and the surrounding arts scene.

Ranked as the Best Beach in the U.S. in 2026 by U.S. News & World Report, an outstanding feature of Siesta Key is its convenient access to both top-tier beaches and world-class arts and culture. As part of Florida's Culture Coast, Siesta Key is close to a wide variety of museums, galleries, and theaters.

Long before the island was a vacationer's playground, it was a quiet fishing community in the early 1900s. When the bridge to Sarasota arrived in 1917, visitors began to discover the lush landscapes and picture-perfect beaches. The rest, as they say, is history!

With three distinct beach areas, Siesta Key is the idyllic setting for outdoor adventure. Kayak through mangroves, paddleboard the calm bay, snorkel at Point of Rocks, or fish from shore or on a charter. Also appealing is the island's culture, casual local vibe, and the vibrant charm of Siesta Key Village.

Whether you want peaceful days at the beach or active island adventures, Siesta Key delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Siesta Key is an exceptional destination for year-round sun and fun, though there are some tips for picking the right time for you.

Visitors to Siesta Key will see an influx of snowbirds and Spring Breakers from January to March. The shoulder seasons (April - May and September-October) are a wonderful time to take advantage of smaller crowds and milder weather, though September and October can see some storm activity as hurricane season wraps up.

November and December are typically moderate, as visitors and seasonal residents stay up north for the holidays. The combination of heat, humidity, and summer storms make summers the low season, though it is a popular time for families to visit on school breaks.

Most visitors fly into Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, just 20 minutes away. Tampa International Airport sits about an hour north. From either airport, a short drive over the bridges from Sarasota lands you right on the island.

Siesta Key itself is a charming, walkable island that also offers a variety of free trolley services plus easy access to ridesharing. Many guests also find walking and biking easy within the village and beach areas. A car can be helpful if you want to explore Sarasota and nearby attractions.

Be sure to attend the Sunday Drum Circle at sunset which has been a local tradition since 1996. The island also hosts the Siesta Fiesta arts festival, the Crystal Classic Sand Sculpting Festival, and lively seafood celebrations throughout the year.

The calm, shallow Gulf waters, soft, cool sand, and family-friendly restaurants make it a top choice for families. Additionally, many of our vacation rentals offer the space and amenities that turn a trip into a relaxed family getaway.
