About

When planning your Suncoast to-do list, one destination that is almost a rite of passage is visiting Siesta Key Village. Here, boutiques, unique restaurants, Old Florida atmosphere, daiquiri bars, and the beach are walkable. Set along tree-lined Ocean Boulevard, this is the place you can grab morning coffee, shop all day, and enjoy live music nightly.

Siesta Key Village developed as the island did, when a 1900s wooden bridge linked it to the mainland near Sarasota. Families and artists sought the white quartz sand, and small businesses, cottages, cafes, and shops grew into the lively district thriving today.

One reason this part of town is so popular is that it has kept its relaxed, small-town feel. You won’t find tall resorts or a fast-paced lifestyle. Instead, the mood is easy-going, making it idyllic for exploring restaurants, tropical bars, boutiques, and ice cream shops.

The Village is also the perfect starting point for a day at Siesta Beach, known for its cool, white sand and top national rankings. In fact, the free parking lot at Siesta Beach is only a 3-minute walk from the Village. Such convenience means that many vacationers spend the day by the water, then head to the Village for dinner and drinks. This routine—beach in the morning, Ocean Boulevard at night—captures the spirit of a visit here.

While not walkable, the sights and sounds of mainland Sarasota are drivable, making it easy to combine sightseeing with a dinner at the Village. For instance, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is only 15 minutes away, offering blooms and stunning scenery. The Mote Marine Laboratory, with its aquariums of sea life, is about 25–30 minutes away. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is about 30 minutes away and offers special exhibitions and galleries.

Another draw is that Siesta Key Village is family-friendly. Here, kids can enjoy ice cream while the adults shop next door, making this destination a must on your Florida vacation.
