Pet Friendly Rocky Point
No need to leave your furry best friend behind! Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco) is a wonderfully pet-friendly beach destination on Mexico’s Sea of Cortez. Casago offers excellent pet-friendly vacation rentals—including spacious 3- and 4-bedroom homes perfect for families and their dogs.
Many of our homes sit right on or just steps from the beach, while others are tucked inside gated communities with easy beach access. They’re ideal for a relaxed vacation where everyone, including your four-legged family member, can enjoy the sand and sun.
Located in Sonora, Mexico, just a short drive south of the Arizona border, Rocky Point combines the charm of a traditional fishing village with beautiful white-sand beaches and stunning Gulf of California views.
Beach Time with Your Pet
One of the best parts? Dogs are welcome on the beach with no restrictions. Your pup will love running on the soft sand, chasing waves, and exploring the shoreline. For safety and courtesy, we recommend keeping them on a leash unless they’re exceptionally well-trained and won’t chase birds or wander off.
Things to Do
Rocky Point offers pleasant weather year-round, with desert temperatures moderated by refreshing ocean breezes. Beyond beach days, you can enjoy local events like Carnaval in February, the South of the Border Festival in May, and the exciting Race Car Experience in June. Always check with individual events ahead of time to confirm their pet policies.
Pet Permits & Border Tips
Bringing your dog across the border is straightforward:
- Up to 3 dogs can enter Mexico without extra fees.
- For more than 3 dogs, you’ll need a permit (currently around 1,817 pesos—subject to change).
- Bring a current rabies vaccination certificate for each pet, signed by your veterinarian. The vaccination must be at least 30 days old before re-entering the United States.
Cats and birds are also allowed but follow different requirements—check current rules before traveling.
