About

A trip to Puerto Vallarta is not complete without a stroll down the famous Malecón Boardwalk! This vibrant boardwalk is recognized worldwide as a lively hub of art, nightlife, activities, and dining options.

The Malecón spans about 11 blocks in the heart of Vallarta, near Zona Romántica. The word Malecón means a boardwalk that borders the ocean. What's great about this boardwalk is that it's completely closed to vehicles. Only pedestrians and bikes are allowed, which makes it a wonderful place to explore with the whole family! Every stretch of this boardwalk is picture-perfect, lined with palm trees, sculptures, and artwork. In addition, there is a scenic pier (Muelle de Playa Los Muertos) that you must add to your bucket list. It's famous for its unique design and stunning appearance, especially around sunset.

A ton of activities await in the bustling Malecón. You'll find many people love to exercise here with runs along the beach or the sidewalks. There are also typically a few different street performers around, including the famous Pole Flyers, also known as the Papantla Flying Men. By definition, there are beaches along the Malecón, and you'll find they are usually swamped. Though they can be full, they are beautiful nonetheless.
