Shop Playa Del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida
Quinta Avenida is Spanish for Fifth Avenue. That’s what this area is designed to evoke: New York’s world-famous shopping street. This is a great place to take a break from the sun. Many vacation rentals are just a short walk from this stretch of shops. Only a block or so from the beach, there’s almost everything a traveler could want. The entire avenue makes a fabulous forty-block stroll to escape the heat of the day. Stroll into a shop lined with local art. When you’re done buying some wonderful regional items, it’s time to take a break. This is the place to go in Playa del Carmen for a small nosh, a quick bar drink, or a much larger meal.
The Rio Secreto Nature Reserve Playa Del Carmen
Another option on a really hot day, the Rio Secreto is an underground water cave stream. There’s beautiful waters in bright shades of vivid aquamarine and brightly colored cave walls. Children and adults can take a boat tour through the waters here with help from a local touring operation. The river is shallow enough that kids of age can safely swim here. They can also climb the cave walls and learn about the history of the area. The Rio is a memorable place that is unique to the area and one of Playa del Carmen places that call to everyone.
Xcaret Playa Del Carmen
Xcaret is one of the region’s most admired and adored destinations. A short drive or bus ride from many of our vacation rentals, Xcaret combines many activities in a single place. There’s a beach for lounging along the waters. There’s also places to interact with wildlife like dolphins and stingrays. This is a wonderful destination if you want to see the region’s many marine mammals and the area’s colorful fish and reptiles. Children can slide down water slides that let them go really fast or grab a tube and invite friends along with them. After that, they can head to the turtle sanctuary or go snorkeling. The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Xcaret has live performances that bring local culture to life. This is an excellent place to sample the regional cuisine. There are several local restaurants offering drinks and full meals all day long.
