For those planning to fly into the area, the Bangor International Airport (BGR) and Portland International Jetport (PWM) offer flights with connections to several major cities. In addition, a handful of regional airports are accessible via Cape Air from Boston Logan International. The closest regional airport to Acadia National Park is the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport.


The Bar Harbor and Acadia region is best known for its late spring through fall seasons. Summer brings warm weather, full access to hiking and biking trails, and vibrant energy throughout Bar Harbor.

Fall is especially popular, with peak foliage typically arriving in late September through October, offering incredible views throughout Acadia National Park.

Spring is quieter and ideal for those looking to explore the area with fewer crowds, while winter offers a much slower, more peaceful environment.

  • Low Season: November through April, when the area becomes quieter and more seasonal
