My heart is heavy to share that Xochitl Roman Guerrero has passed away. Her story is deeply woven into mine.

Xochitl was one of the very first housekeepers I ever had at our company, now known as Casago, on January 1, 2001. There were only five of us that stood in a circle. Cyndi Jones introduced me to my new team, and Xochitl stood there listening to a young gringo trying to explain that “everything was going to be okay.” This was to a veteran team that didn’t speak English. I’m sure she wondered what she had gotten herself into.

She had the patience to let me stumble, learn leadership lessons, and discover that Mexico didn’t work the same way the Army Rangers did. She graciously remained with Casago for the rest of her career. There are few companies that can say that they are generational. Xochitl passed her homeowners to her daughter, Viviana,  and she now carries that same spirit forward.

Xochitl was a hard-working woman who built kind, warm relationships with our homeowners. With her passing, our original circle of five has now dwindled to just two of us left. It breaks my heart to watch time pass and to see that Xochitl is gone.

She will always be part of my personal history, and I’m deeply grateful for her life, her patience, and the example she set.
