We absolutely could not beat the location for the price. It was gosh darn beautiful and easy to get up and down to the beach. This was a reunion of 8 adults and we didn’t need anything fancy. The house isn’t fancy, but it has exactly what you need. One of the best features isn’t even pictured, which is the back deck and the porch above the stairs that go to the beach. Good to know that there are only two bathrooms and the kitchen is quite small. Still a great house and an unbeatable location but just be aware. Bonus wetland across the road.
We loved the private beach and the location of this home. The home has a charming history with all the family photos which we enjoyed. We loved the firepit and the use of the fireplace. The bedrooms were comfortable for our family of 6 ranging in age from 73 down to 3 years old. We did enjoy our stay here and would stay here again! But that being said we had many issues when we first arrived and were not handled by Vacasa and we repeatedly asked for help on the many issues. (Such as 3 stinking garbage cans overflowing and full of flies in the front yard near the front door.. this was never handled during our 6 day stay.... and no working grill on the back patio to name a few of them....I see this as Vacasas issue and not as a bad mark on the home.)
House is very old, if you don’t care about old house issues it’s good. No counter space, tiny kitchen, several small repairs needed. Lots of ants in kitchen and bath. Mattresses need replaced. Septic failed and backed up in yard. Took a day of vacation to get past agents in another country to speak with local agent who made things happen. She was great. 24 hrs and 11 people could not flush or use water. We loved the outside. Easy walk to beach. Lots of history inside.
The home is walking distance to New Buffalo Downtown and steps from the beach. The home offered beach chairs and towels which was really nice for out of towners. The home itself is older and rustic. There is one large bed downstairs but all other beds do not fit adult couples. The bathrooms were well stocked and updated. The kitchen is very small but stocked enough to cook family meals. We had some issues with fruit flies in the kitchen and the septic system overflowing into the front yard. If your primary purpose is location and beach access this house is great, if you are looking for luxury accomodations there may be better suited homes.
The views! Vacasa was easy to reach and then discuss the opportunities with this old property. We also love the knotty pine every where and the old stories told by the family pictures. Very nostalgic place that could be perfect with some upgrades. It probably sounds like we hated it, but really there was much more to love than dislike. My wife and I have stayed at many properties over the years on the lake when we visit home. So no hate here just recommended opinions. Once again if the property were for sale you may just have a buyer.
House was warm and cozy. Peaceful outside and beautiful sunsets. Great place to take the family for a quick little getaway! Had an awesome time!
