About

Take your Park City vacation to new heights on a hot-air balloon adventure with Balloons Above! Founded in 1979, you know you're in competent hands floating above the Utah landscape.

Wil LaPointe, FAA-certified pilot, and champion balloon racer, owns and pilots Balloons Above. His 40 years of experience ensure a comfortable and safe flight. Aside from being a pro, Wil is a pleasure to talk to and responsive to communications, ensuring you have a wonderful time!

Upon arriving at the meeting point, the crew will greet you and, after a short introduction, will assist you into the gondola. Instead of climbing over the side, you'll enter via a door that opens and then locks in place once all are aboard. This convenience is rare in the balloon tour industry and ensures that all ages and abilities can take a flight.

Whether you choose a sunrise or afternoon adventure, you'll have an exhilarating time observing Park City from a bird' s-eye view.

Balloons Above: Fun Facts & Cool Features

One of the more fascinating aspects of this tour is that not much has changed since the first lighter-than-air flight in France in 1783. Ballooning still relies on hot air for lift and a basket to carry passengers. While modern materials and inventions make the sport safer, a tour with Balloons Above is similar to those centuries ago.

While ballooning is ideal for all ages, they recommend that children five and under don't fly. They have found that the sudden loud sound of the burner frightens little ones.

A wonderful feature at Balloons Above is the discounts for groups. Pricing is based on the number of people in your group. So, the larger your group, the cheaper it is per person.

Another advantage of booking a tour with Balloons Above is that they operate out of Park City, Midway, Heber City, and Kamas. This makes planning multiple attractions daily doable, with a sunrise flight and a visit to Deer Creek State Park.

A fun fact to remember for planning your day is that flights last one hour. Sometimes, the pilot will fly longer, in which case there is no charge. Keep in mind this is the pilot's decision and can be weather-related. Ballooning depends on the weather, the wind's strength, and direction. Should Balloons Above need to cancel due to weather, they will contact you to reschedule.

Lastly, the crowning touch to a flight is the light snacks and champagne or wine served to celebrate the occasion! It's the perfect ending to an adventurous flight or a send-off to celebrating at an eatery like Saltbox.

When you're ready to float on air and experience flight uniquely, book a tour on your Park City vacation with Balloons Above!
