About

Like a coin, Maxie's Restaurant & Lounge has two distinct sides. The one opens at noon, serving fresh seafood, pasta, burgers, and salads, along with ice-cold drinks through dinnertime. The second side of the coin is from 10:00 p.m until 2:00 a.m. on weekends, when a DJ lets you dance the night away.

Maxie’s is in San Pedro, on the sun-soaked island of Ambergris Caye. Sitting on the corner of Angel Coral and Buccaneer Streets, just off the back street near the soccer field, it has become one of the most talked-about dining spots on the island.

Maxie's built its reputation the old-fashioned way: through great food, friendly service, and a welcoming setting. Here, you can show up in beach attire or dress to impress, and you'll fit in. Such flexibility makes it a favorite for families, couples, and groups of friends alike.

What keeps people coming back is the generous portions, fresh local ingredients, and the personal service. The staff treats guests like family, and because Belize offers plenty of dining choices, that level of care stands out.

Whether you're winding down after diving the Great Blue Hole or kicking off a night out, dining here is a rite of passage on your Belize vacation.

Vibe

The two-story building blends wood tones and open-air dining to deliver a picturesque setting. While it doesn’t offer ocean views, the town's laid-back streetscape makes dining enjoyable.

The rustic wood motif continues inside, where wood floors, beams, and ceilings create a tree-house vibe. Add the plush chairs, ornate tables, and lighting, and its upscale-casual balance comes into focus.

The lively bar serves as the heart of the space, framed by warm lighting and a tropical palette. Here, solo diners or those seeking an even more laid-back experience populate.

The atmosphere mixes a laid-back island mood with genuine festive energy. On weekends, the DJ and VIP seating transform the eatery into a high-energy spot, attracting honeymooners to bachelorette parties.

Maxie’s blend of comfort, energy, and warm hospitality makes it a natural fit for a Belize vacation.

Maxie's Restaurant & Lounge: Menu & Drinks

While its vibe and dance nights are appealing, it’s the food that attracts the crowds. Bear in mind that menu prices are in Belize dollars, not American dollars, and are subject to a 12.5% tax.

Seafood leads the way, showcasing Caribbean favorites. The crab claws earn special praise, known for being sweet, tender, and packed with flavor. They capture the freshness that defines Belize!

The blackened fish has its own loyal following. Guests note that the kitchen truly understands how to prepare it, delivering perfectly seasoned, expertly cooked fish that holds up against any spot in town.

The fresh ceviche offers a bright, citrus-forward start to any meal that pairs beautifully with the tropical setting.

Not in the mood for seafood? Maxie's has you covered. Pasta fans will want to consider the Creamy Pasta made with fettuccine, garlic sauce, fresh Parmesan cheese, and mushrooms. For an additional cost, add a protein like chicken, fish, shrimp, or lobster.

After a day exploring Xunantunich, nothing satisfies like a juicy burger! The handhelds at Maxie’s feature a 6-oz grilled patty with spicy mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and grilled onions. Served on a buttery brioche bun with fries, this meal will satisfy any hunger!

The bar matches the kitchen's reputation, with its large selection of cocktails, spirits, beers, and wines. The espresso martinis offer a smooth, energizing choice that's ideal for fueling a festive evening. Of course, the mojitos and margaritas are some of the best in Belize!

A meal at Maxie's Restaurant & Lounge unites fresh local flavors, skilled cooking, and a charming environment. Whether for lunch, dinner, or with the late-night crowd, Maxie's delivers!
