Tucson Arizona draws over 6 million tourist in a year. These tourist flock to the popular tourist destinations including Saguaro National Park, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and the Reid Zoo. While these attractions are worth the attention, we have provided a list of more unique places to visit if you are looking to beat the crowds while experiencing Tucson.

Museums

Tucson has a diverse selection of museums and art exhibits. The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Blocks has a wide range of exhibits for any visitor. The Mini Time machine Museums of Miniatures showcases rooms filled with miniature historical figurines. The Gallery in the Sun provides and intersection of history and art at its historic site. For something different, visit the Valley of the Moon, an eccentric garden created in the 1920s by a Tucson local.

The Great Outdoors

There are many beautiful natural landscapes in Tucson. All are very accessible to the public. There is something to be found for every skill level. Madera Canyon has shorter trails with wheelchair access. For a longer day trip, head to Sabino Canyon where you can hike the 7 falls trail. Tour different waterfalls while stopping to dip in the clean cool pools along the trail. Other notable hikes include Mt. Wasson Peak, Romero Ruins in Catalina State Park and Tucson Mountain Park. There are many gardens in Tucson that showcase the local fauna including Tucson Botanical Gardens and Tohono Chul Park.

Festivals

If you are looking to experience the local flavor, you should attend a local festival. Tucson hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the Rodeo and Rodeo Parade, The Book Festival and the Folklife Festival. All of these festivals celebrate the unique diversity of Tucson with food, art and great music. Check for local festivals that may be happening while you are visiting!
