Basecamp Grill

About

Basecamp Grill is a fun, modern location that feels like you are stepping into a home every time you visit. It is very close to the Deschutes River, which is one of the reasons it is so popular for those who are visiting here. It’s also super close to the Crosswater Golf Club. It is on the location where the first restaurant ever located in Sunriver existed (then called the Wagonwheel). Back then, we learned on our trip that the location was noted for selling food to the people who were forestry workers like loggers as they came off the job.

Today, the location is all about creating the very best hamburger possible. They use a single grind chuck for many of their burgers. You can also check corned beef here and a few premade items. You can come in to order what you like and then eat it there. Or, some people come in to get meals to go so they can take them with them on the road or trail as they are leaving for the day. It’s super easy to do that and a great way to save some money.

You can also stop in for breakfast before your trip out. The location is perfect, for example, before a round of golf.

Location & Environment

Basecamp Grill is located on Spring River Road. If you are coming from Bend to this area, take Highway 97 south and take the Sunriver/Cascade Lakes turnoff. Then follow that road for about 1.5 miles and take the second exit off the roundabout. This will become Spring River Road. You will find our location near the Crosswater Golf Course, located on the left side of the road.

Lottery Room

Basecamp Grill is fabulous for its food. Hands down, it is a filling, flavorful meal that you will love. However, it is also famous for its lottery room. If you are feeling lucky, step back into this lottery and gambling room. There, you will find about five lottery machines you can take your hand at. It’s a unique feature that I have never seen at any other location.

What’s on the Menu

The menu is fantastic, with a lot of great choices. Don’t overlook it. While they may be known for their burgers (and rightfully so), they also have some great other foods. The House-made chili is one of the best ways to warm up on a cold day. They also have a range of soups and specialty sandwiches. Everything is a good sized portion that will not allow you to feel hungry. Also, you can check out beer here. They have a large selection of options, along with numerous wines and liquor offerings, too. That, too, is going to warm you up if you are coming off Mt. Bachelor from skiing.

The menu does change throughout the year. The summer menu, which is the one we choose off of, offered a wide range of fantastic foods. Let’s take a closer look.

For breakfast, there are some great choices to enjoy for a filling breakfast. That includes the best option, The Camp, which includes ham, sausage, or bacon along with country fried potatoes and two eggs cooked the way you like them. There’s also a mini version that’s worthy for those who have a limited appetite. Fresh toast, pancakes, and biscuits and gravel are also on the menu here. We also should note the breakfast burrito blast, which offers eggs, potatoes, and cheese with or without meat and veggies, are great for taking with you on your trail. There are plenty of sides and lots of ways to customize just about everything.

For the rest of the day, you can choose from a wide range of items. The burgers are the best option, with various types to select from. In addition to this, they have a Tex/Mex menu (check out the Macho Nachos), appetites, and lots of side options, including fries and tater tots. They also offer a range of appetizers to choose from.

Our Recommendations

Basecamp Grill offers a number of different breakfast items. I highly recommend the Sunriver Scramble. It offers ham, bacon, or sausage, with eggs and country fried potatoes all tossed together. It is then topped with cheese that’s melted over it all. It’s so filling.

I highly recommend the burgers for your meal if you are coming for lunch or dinner. There are a few different options. Check out the Bachelor Bacon Burger if you love bacon burgers. If you want something a bit more special, choose the Swiss Alps burger with swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onion, lettuce, tomatoes, and toppings. It was so good.

They also offer chicken tenders which were great for just about anyone looking for something flavorful and simple. They are on the appetizer menu, but you can order them for a meal, too.
