About

Groundbreaking for Puerto Peñasco’s Convention Center took place in 2012, and the venue officially opened its doors on May 8, 2014. The land was generously donated by Gustavo Brown and Reyel Taylor of Sandy Beach Resorts, with construction funded by state and federal sources at a total cost of approximately $110 million pesos.

Building

This modern, first-class facility offers spacious accommodations for up to 3,000 guests. It can be divided into 10 separate rooms, allowing up to 8 simultaneous events or meetings. Two outdoor areas are also available for events or cocktail receptions.

Inside, you’ll find a large lobby that comfortably holds 200 people, along with a lounge area, plenty of space for registration, and flexible bar setups. Conference rooms seat up to 120 in theater-style arrangement. Ample parking is never an issue — the lot fits up to 1,000 cars and 14 buses.

Events

Even before its official opening, the Expo Center hosted the elegant Black and White Ball. It has since welcomed a world-class boxing match where local champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada successfully defended his two world titles in front of 4,000 enthusiastic fans.

The center has gone on to host AA conventions, car shows, concerts, Arizona/Sonora Commission meetings, and many other large gatherings. With frequent concerts and events on the calendar, it’s smart to check their Facebook page for the latest updates. The venue is also available for private rentals, including weddings and quinceañeras.

This dynamic space has been a major boost for Puerto Peñasco, drawing more visitors and revenue to the city while giving many first-time guests a perfect mix of business and leisure.
