About
Arizona favorites Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers (RCPM) bring music lovers to Rocky Point’s shores every year for two unforgettable multi-day music festivals. Circus Mexicus and January Jam are the perfect way to relax, enjoy great live music, and soak up the laid-back Sea of Cortez vibes.
Circus Mexicus
Normally held in early June, Circus Mexicus is RCPM’s biggest Rocky Point event — a four-day beach music festival featuring a variety of bands across town. The highlight? Two nights of high-energy performances on a massive main stage right on the sand at Sandy Beach.
Access the concert venue through Banditos restaurant/bar. Opening acts warm up the crowd as the sun sets, then Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers close the night as headliners. It’s the ideal early-summer getaway filled with music, sunshine, friends, cold cerveza, and plenty of tequila.

January Jam
Kick off the new year with January Jam — a more intimate weekend of rock ‘n’ roll under sunny Sonoran skies. In mid-January, RCPM returns for a lively yet relaxed gathering that warms the winter days with great music and good company.
Like its bigger sibling, January Jam features a diverse lineup of musicians performing at Rocky Point’s top venues over several days.
January Jam: (Usually held over MLK Weekend)
RCPM
Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers blend the raw energy of desert rock with the laid-back rhythm of the Sea of Cortez. The band features frontman Roger Clyne, drummer P.H. Naffah, lead guitarist Jim Dalton, and bassist Nick Scropos. Their loyal fans — known as “Peacemakers” — travel from across the U.S. and beyond to join the fun on Rocky Point’s sandy shores.
Circus Mexicus & January Jam: Fun Facts & Cool Features
Roger Clyne and P.H. Naffah first gained fame in the 1990s with their band The Refreshments. Their album Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy became a cult classic, and the hit song “Banditos” inspired the name of Clyne’s popular restaurant/bar on Sandy Beach. Roger is also a co-owner of the iconic JJ’s Cantina in Cholla Bay.
After The Refreshments, they formed RCPM and released their debut album Honky Tonk Union in 1999. What began as a small rooftop concert with a handful of friends on a Mexican cantina has grown into the thousands-strong beach party known as Circus Mexicus — now one of the biggest annual events on Rocky Point’s shores.
January Jam has similar humble roots. In 2008, the band held an eight-day recording session in Cholla Bay that produced their fifth album, Turbo Ocho. On the final day, they invited friends to an unforgettable concert on the terraces of JJ’s Cantina overlooking the bay.
If you love Americana rock, positive vibes, beach parties, and great live music, these two festivals belong on your Rocky Point calendar!
