Rocky Point, known as Puerto Peñasco in Spanish, is one of the most favored vacation spots in North America. It is located on the Sea of Cortez a little south of the junction between Baja California and the rest of Mexico. Because of its location, water sports are a beloved activity in Rocky Point. Some people choose to have vacation rentals down there simply for a spot to go and enjoy water sports and other activities. Seaside Mexico has always had beachfront rentals in the area, and Casago will continue to do the same. Having a vacation rental close to the beach means you’ll be able to have more time to partake in available water activities. Two examples of vacation rentals on or near the beach are Corona Del Sol and Sonoran Sun. Both places have rentals available at Seaside Mexico. Read on to see what water activities are available in this part of Mexico aside from just walking on the beach or tanning, although those two activities are nice and relaxing.
Scuba Diving
Do you want to see the aquatic life that resides in the Sea of Cortez? if yes, then snorkeling and scuba diving are wonderful water sports that you can participate in. Because the tides are constantly changing, the type of aquatic life you see differs each time you explore. Snorkeling itself does not require a permit. However, for scuba diving, you will have to take a course with a certified scuba diving instructor. This is done through an excursion where a group goes out on a boat with the certified instructor. That instructor will have everything you need for a good scuba dive. After taking a lesson, even if you are a first-timer, you’ll be able to scuba dive and enjoy seeing the abundant marine life that inhabits these waters.
Kite-surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving are far from the only activities you can do on the water while visiting Rocky Point. Parasailing, fishing, or riding a Jet Ski or WaveRunner are also fun activities. Whichever vacation rental you choose for your stay, there will be someone who can help you find out where to do your favorite water activity in the area.
Kite Surfing
One water activity that people can participate in is Kite Surfing. In this sport, you are on a surfboard while your hands are holding on to a kite. This activity is best done in windy conditions. You would have to do it on a day when it’s windy and there’s good waves in the ocean. Lessons are available whether you are new to kite surfing or a veteran to the sport. When you get the chance to do this fun activity, you’ll feel the wind whipping through your body at fantastic speeds as you glide fast over the ocean waves.
Kayaking
If there’s not enough wind during your stay, then perhaps kayaking is your best bet for a water activity in Rocky Point. Kayaking in the Sea of Cortez is a wonderful way to explore the coastline and enjoy the scenic views. If you go out in the early morning, you just may spot some dolphins, which are known to play around in the area. That means bringing your camera along for the ride is a priority. You can do this activity with your own group, but guided tours are also available.
