Getting around: Hilo International Airport is about 30 minutes away, a quick and easy drive. A rental car is recommended for reaching the Puna coast's beaches and Hilo's shopping and dining just down the road. Keaau itself is a small community with a modest walkable center, so most errands call for a short drive.
