Overview
Glacier Peak Lodge sits high on a forested hillside in Yosemite West, a quiet residential pocket reached through the gates of Yosemite National Park off Wawona Road. Across 3,200 square feet and three levels, the home is built around what it looks out at. A two story A-frame wall of windows in the great room frames ridgelines, deep forest, and the valley beyond, and the light shifts across it from first glow to alpenglow. Vaulted tongue and groove ceilings and exposed beams run the length of the main level. A stacked stone fireplace anchors the living room, the kitchen flows straight into the dining area, and sliding doors lead out to a wraparound deck where the pines come right up to the red railing. Whether you are here to chase waterfalls, ski Badger Pass, fish, or simply sit in the trees and let your shoulders drop, this is a place to wake up inside the park with room to spread out. Key Features • Sleeps 10 guests • 3 bedrooms | 3 bathrooms • Two story A-frame window wall with mountain, forest, and valley views • Vaulted tongue and groove ceilings and exposed beams across the main level • Stacked stone fireplace with a wall mounted TV in the great room • Deep leather sectional facing the view • Kitchen with granite island, double sink, stainless gas range, and hickory cabinets • Long plank dining table under a candle style chandelier • Wraparound deck with outdoor dining, picnic tables, lounge chairs, and a grill • Primary bedroom with a sleigh bed and cushioned window seat • Wireless internet and a laptop friendly workspace • Free parking on site • Yosemite West, inside the gates of Yosemite National Park Sleeping Arrangements Total occupancy: 10 guests Total beds: 7 With a private king suite for the couple who planned the trip, two more queen rooms for friends or grandparents, and a big bunk friendly room for the kids, the layout lets a family or group spread out without anyone drawing the short straw. Bedroom 1 is the primary, with a king sleigh bed dressed in blue, a long cushioned window seat made for reading with morning coffee, and a vaulted wood plank ceiling with a ceiling fan turning overhead. Yosemite artwork, matching nightstands, and a rustic wooden chest finish a room couples will not want to leave. Bedroom 2 features a queen black iron bed and a curtained glass door that opens straight onto the deck, so the pines are the first thing you see in the morning. A bear painting and a ceiling fan keep it cozy and cabin true. Bedroom 3 is built for families and larger groups, with a queen bed plus three twin beds, so parents and kids can share or a crew of cousins can bunk together. An additional sleeping space offers a fourth queen bed, giving one more pair of guests their own spot to land at the end of the day. Bathrooms Three full bathrooms keep a full house moving in the morning. Two have tiled walk-in showers behind glass, one finished in wood look tile with a separate toilet nook, and the third has a tub and shower combination for a long soak after a day on the trail. Every bath has a granite vanity with a vessel sink and a stone tile backsplash, and one opens directly off a bedroom as an ensuite. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, and a hair dryer are provided. Living Areas The great room is the reason to book this house. Vaulted tongue and groove ceilings climb to exposed beams, a stacked stone fireplace holds one wall with a TV mounted above it, and a soaring A-frame wall of windows holds the other, framing pines, ridgeline, and distant hills. A deep leather sectional, a wooden coffee table, and a pair of armchairs face the view. Hardwood runs warm underfoot, ceiling fans turn overhead, and sliding doors open to the deck, so the room works as well for a snowy afternoon of cards by the fire as it does for the evening everyone crowds the windows at sunset. Kitchen & Dining The kitchen is set up to feed a full house. Hickory cabinets, a tile backsplash, a stainless gas range, a stainless refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a microwave surround a granite island with a double sink, all under a vaulted wood ceiling where a mounted deer head keeps watch. Coffee maker, toaster, blender, cooking basics, and wine glasses are on hand. Just beyond, a long farmhouse plank table with upholstered chairs sits beneath a candle style chandelier, with big windows looking out to the deck, the pines, and the hills. Breakfast before an early trailhead and a slow dinner after it both happen here. The Deck The red-railed deck wraps the house and gives everyone a place to land. A long outdoor dining table and two picnic tables with benches set the scene for meals in the open air, lounge chairs and a swivel chair line up for reading and watching the light change, and a covered grill handles evenings when nobody wants to cook inside. Tall pines stand close enough to touch, sunlight glows gold through the trunks, and hazy ridgelines show in the distance. Mornings out here with coffee are the part guests remember. The Views Perched high on Henness Ridge, the home looks out across forested ridgelines, mountains, and valley. The A-frame window wall turns that view into the main feature of the house rather than something you have to go looking for, and it changes character through the day, from first light on the ridges to alpenglow to a dark sky full of stars. Surrounding Areas Glacier Peak Lodge sits in Yosemite West, a small residential community reached through the gates of Yosemite National Park off Wawona Road. The park's headline sights are a short drive rather than a long morning commute from a gateway town. • Badger Pass, the Yosemite Ski and Snowboard Area, about 15 to 20 minutes, for downhill runs, tubing, snowshoeing, and Nordic trails • Tunnel View, about 20 to 25 minutes, for the classic first look at El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome • Wawona, about 25 to 30 minutes, for the historic hotel, golf, and swimming holes on the South Fork of the Merced • Yosemite Valley, about 35 to 40 minutes, for Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Half Dome, and the valley loop trails • Glacier Point, about 35 to 40 minutes when the road is open, for one of the great overlooks in the country • Mariposa Grove, about 35 to 40 minutes, to walk among the giant sequoias • Fishing and hundreds of miles of trail in every direction • Bass Lake and Oakhurst to the south, a longer day trip for warm water swimming, boating, restaurants, and full service groceries ★☆Locally Rooted, Elevated Hospitality☆★ We're Yosemite Elevated Stays, a locally rooted, family-owned team serving Yosemite and the surrounding Sierra Nevada. We believe a stay should be more than just a place to land. It should feel personal, seamless, and connected to the granite, waterfalls, and giant trees that make this place unlike anywhere else on earth. From booking to departure, we're here with thoughtful support, clear communication, and trusted local guidance to help you settle in, feel cared for, and make lasting memories in the range of light.
Guests have full access to the main house, including the great room, kitchen, dining area, all three bedrooms and bathrooms, and the wraparound decks. Self check-in is available with a keypad, so you can arrive on your own schedule. Your entry details arrive in your check-in email, and the door is at the very top of the stairs. Parking is on the property. During the summer months the driveway holds up to five vehicles. From November through April it holds one large or two small vehicles, and any additional cars will be towed, so plan to carpool up if you are coming in winter with a full house. From November 1 through April 30, the home is reached by an exterior stairway of 26 steps up to the main entrance. Snow chains are required in the park during snow events, including in 4WD and AWD vehicles. The lower apartment has a long term tenant from April through October and is not part of your rental.
Yosemite West is a small residential community tucked into the pines off Wawona Road, inside the gates of Yosemite National Park between the Valley and Wawona. There is no commercial strip here, and that is the whole point. What you get instead is quiet, dark skies, clean mountain air, and deer moving through the trees at dusk. It is a base for people who would rather wake up in the park than drive into it. Trailheads, overlooks, and the Valley floor are all a short drive, and at the end of the day you come back to trees instead of a parking lot.
A car is necessary here. Yosemite West is reached off Wawona Road, Highway 41, through the gates of Yosemite National Park. Coming from the south, the drive climbs up through Oakhurst, Fish Camp, and the South Entrance. In winter, chains are required in the park during snow events, including with 4WD and AWD vehicles, and roads can close with weather. Check 1-800-427-ROAD for California road conditions and 209-372-0200 for park roads before you travel. Cell service is spotty in the mountains, so download your directions and check-in details before you head up, and fill the tank before you arrive since fuel inside the park is limited.
• Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM. • Minimum stay is 2 nights. • Guests must be 21 or older to book. • Maximum occupancy is 10 guests April through October and 8 guests November through March. Only registered guests are permitted. • Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. • Pets are not allowed. • No smoking, parties, or events. • Reaching the home means entering Yosemite National Park. A park entrance fee applies, currently 35 dollars per vehicle for seven days, and the driver should carry identification matching the reservation name. • WiFi is provided for browsing and email. Mountain service can be slow or intermittent and is not reliable for streaming, so download what you want to watch before you come up. • Power outages happen in this area. Bring a flashlight and layers. • This is active bear country. Keep food indoors and use the bear box by the garage for trash. • To protect against wildfire, outdoor fires, fire pits, fireworks, and open flames are not permitted. • From November 1 through April 30, the home is reached by a 26 step exterior stairway, and patio furniture and the grill are stored for the season. • The home sits on a hillside across three levels, with stairs inside and out. • Afternoon winds can be strong. Please lower the umbrellas when you are not using them. • Your reservation includes accidental damage protection. • Additional fees and taxes may apply.

Nice house but unfortunately a very poor experience with guest services...rude and not willing to help. Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend to a future guest
Everything, amazing place. We loved it. The best way to explore Yosemite.
We had a great time. Very spacious. Would stay here again.
The views and overall location of this property are absolutely beautiful, and the floor-to-ceiling windows, vaulted ceilings, large decks, and open floor plan make for a great setting in Yosemite West. The home has a lot of potential and comfortably accommodates larger groups, but for the price point—well over $1,100 per night—we expected a significantly better overall experience and level of upkeep. Unfortunately, there were several maintenance, cleanliness, and comfort issues throughout the stay. The mattresses were worn out and sagging. Cleanliness was inconsistent throughout the home, with dusty surfaces, spider webs in the windows and ceilings. Several kitchen glasses appeared cloudy or filmed over, and the sliding glass doors were also very dirty. Overall, the kitchen could benefit from a deeper cleaning and better attention to detail between guests. The lack of basic household supplies was especially disappointing given the nightly rate. Minimal amounts of very low-quality toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, and bathroom products were provided for a multi-day stay with several guests. We were also surprised by the motel-quality towels and linens at this price point. While the rental agreement mentions bringing additional supplies, most guests paying luxury-level rates would reasonably expect a better quality and quantity of essentials. One additional concern was the unexpected presence of a man living downstairs near the garage. Based on the listing, we believed we were renting the entire property, so discovering someone living on-site without clear disclosure beforehand was uncomfortable and unsettling for our group. Overall, the home itself and the views are stunning, and there are definitely positives including strong Wi-Fi, spacious gathering areas, central HVAC, and a great location. However, the property currently feels more like a heavily used rental than a premium luxury experience. With better maintenance, deeper cleaning, upgraded bedding and supplies, and improved transparency, this could easily become a five-star property.
Such a great house! It was huge, great view of Yosemite! Huge windows that allows you to see everything! Rooms were huge clean and plenty of space to enjoy!
Very comfortable house, parking a little tight, but you get used to it. Great location, it’s a keeper.
