We had parking issues from the start and it went downhill from there. The owner’s 4x4 pickup was abandoned with multiple flat tires blocking the parking spaces in front of the unit. Trashy and inconvenient but at least it was addressed by day 3. The house itself was dirty, with disgusting floors (covered in visible dirt and lint) that haven’t been properly mopped in a very long time. Our feet and socks turned black from the floors in the first three hours. I washed my son’s feet the first night before going to bed and the washcloth looked like I had cleaned a dirty car. The carpets are so, so, so stained. They do not appear to have been shampooed in a very long time, if ever. There was dried ketchup on the counter in the kitchen, the dishwasher smelled like fish, there was a short curly hair in the bathtub, and there was dried mud on the floor outside one bathroom. On one night the air conditioning quit working on the third floor. Apparently this was a known issue and the owner had a team fix it the next day. The upstairs bathroom had at times no hot water (no water would leave the tap) or very low pressure. Essentially, only one shower was possible at a time with all the pressure going to the ground floor bathroom. This problem was apparently new and was not resolved by the time we left. Normally I wouldn’t mention the following, but together with the other issues shows a pattern of poor management. A lamp was missing a light bulb, the battery in the fan remote was dead, the house had only 2 hangers for 8 people (we asked for more and they gave us an additional six - still not enough for five days), there were no extra trash bags for the kitchen, some bathrooms had no washcloths (we had to take them from the downstairs bathroom), there were lots of lids in the kitchen cabinets that did not fit anything else in the kitchen, likewise there were lots of containers with no matching lids, the spatula was covered in dried egg (we cleaned it off), the upstairs patio door would not lock, and the plates/bowls were not microwave safe. All of this is a shame. The property itself is well-located, well-decorated, and spacious. The furniture is reasonable for a rental unit and the dock access to the water is a luxury. But it fails basic cleanliness and living standards for a bed and breakfast. A/C can fail and plumbing issues can surprise owners, but the rest is just a poorly managed BnB. Working with Vacasa customer support was like talking into a black hole. We’d tell them about issues, they’d assure us they cared and would notify the local team, then we’d hear nothing about it. We asked to be moved to a clean property, we were told the request would be prioritized then we heard nothing more. When I asked again the person treated it like they knew nothing about the previous conversation (in the same text message chain). I’ll never rent with Vacasa again and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
The pictures on the website for the outside of the house did not match what it actually looks like. The “outdoor kitchen” are was absolutely disgusting, the grill was very dirty, there was still food left in it. The sink was gross and full of grill parts. There was a dead roach on one of the pillows on the bed downstairs. The patio furniture was sparse and missing cushions. The house itself wasn’t to bad, just lacked good housekeeping. All and all we still had a good time.
I went on a family trip and had a good time fishing and the beach was close. If I travel next time, I will be back here.
Overall this is a beautiful house in a great location, but there are many issues with the house that need to be fixed for me to reccomend it. There are broken items, items that do not work and the WiFi does not work. The elevator in the house is not available for use and it is a 3 story condo. The water pressure throughout the house is very low. You are not allowed to use the garage so if you bring any items to use while you are there you have no place to store them.
Gorgeous home with great location. Subpar host experience. Layout and furnishings of the home were very comfortable for a large group. AC worked great. Very up to date. Issues with checkin, technology, parking and lack of personal host to resolve issues made this a subpar experience compared with other vacation home rental experiences at similar price points ($1000 per night).
Nothing worked from front door code, tvs, internet, elevator, etc. The home is beautiful but not managed closely. We were highly disappointed during our stay and it really made it unenjoyable. Don’t waste the extra money, it’s not worth it.
