Driftwood Retreat

The location of this house was wonderful. It was very comfortable, great for 2 people with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Deer walked by the property in the morning and evening. We can't say enough about how beautiful the property was. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. The rental itself was a little tricky to find at first. When you come down the steep driveway, you will find a big house on your right. Facing that larger house, to the right of (behind) it, there is a gravel path to this rental house. Once you find the gravel path, it's easy. Please note it would not be good for a person in a wheelchair. There are 3-4 stone steps up to the gravel path. There was a big problem with the wifi, and Vacasa customer service did not do a good job helping us. We called 3 times within 24 hours and spoke to someone who said they would have the local team come help. However no one ever called us back or came to the house. The router was hidden in one of the bedroom closets and was entirely unplugged. Luckily we were able to fix it ourselves. Overall we would rent this place again, especially now that we know how to fix the wifi. We used it as a base for exploring all of Skagit County.

The property itself was beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing. The house was a disappointment. The kitchen was being remodeled, something that was not shared with us prior to our stay. The reviews state the kitchen is well stocked, we did not find that to be the case. Minimal cooking equipment. The BBQ had not been cleaned in ages; the grates were rusty and dirty. We had planned on cooking at the house, but after a thorough look around and discovering there was no hot water at the kitchen sink, we opted to eat out. The furniture was not of good quality and was uncomfortable. The beds were new, but the bedding was stained and not cozy, thin pillows and blankets. The bathroom sink fixtures were loose and in desperate need of tightening to operate properly. A closer look of the house revealed dirt and grim behind doors and in corners. Communication with Vacasa was marginal. I am still waiting for someone to "reach out shortly" regarding the cleanliness of the property (that message was from 6 days ago). This place has huge potential to be a cozy, peaceful retreat on the beach, but it is not there yet.

Everything looks beautiful on the posting for this home. It looks pretty upon arrival, however the house was so dirty, so many appliances didn’t work and the managing agent or homeowners cheap out on hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. It was quite a disappointment.
