Overview

Spread across two floors, the light and bright interior provide all the comforts of home. Relax and restore in one of two bedrooms with a bank of windows looking out over the beach and Puget Sound - both located upstairs. AC and a private washer/dryer add convenience to your stay. Whip up delicious dishes in the sparkling full kitchen, with stainless steel appliances and generous stone counter space. Then cozy up for game nights in the comfy living area, where a sound-view wall of windows provides gorgeous scenery. On the waterfront deck, kick back in an Adirondack chair while dinner sizzles on the grill. Then dine alfresco with an incredible vista. The home looks out onto the shipping lanes so you can witness Puget Sound commerce with freighters, aircraft carriers, and private and commercial boats. On clear days, you can see the snow-covered peaks of the Cascade Range, and in the mornings - the beautiful sunrise. Mt. Baker is clearly visible to the northeast. The resident bald eagles talk and put on a show, the seals and river otters entertain in the water and the great blue herons fish in the shallows. You’ll see an occasional deer with fawns on the beach and on the road. The maritime town of Kingston is two miles away, with multiple eateries. The Point Casino is 10 minutes away. First off, don't arrive after dark unless you have stayed at the Moon Cabin before. Parking is limited, the stairs are many and fairly steep. The roads are narrow but the drive in and out is glorious. As for the Moon Cabin itself. The place is a gem! If you are looking for a waterfront place to stay in the Kingston area this is hard to beat. The owners have done an excellent job of bring the place up to date. We had many excursions planned but found ourselves just wanting to relax at the cabin. We saw plenty of marine life from the large deck and the boat watching is excellent! Minutes from the Kingston ferry and 2 kayaks is a nice bonus as well. We had a great stay!

The house's setting is breathtaking with views of a bay and of Peuget Sound. We loved using the kayaks. My kids fished off of them and caught a baby salmon. We enjoyed walking on the beach and watching river otters. My teenagers said that it was one of their favorite rentals. If you are someone who likes walking on trails in the woods and dont mind stairs, then this could be a perfect spot for you. Do not underestimate the stairs...there are about 100. However, your reward of being at the house is, in my family's assessment very well worth it.

It was a great little place so clean and cute but bring your own coffee! Your calves will be sore as there are so many stairs to get down to the house (and back up). The views are top notch, so incredible! The power went out for the second day of our stay from morning until night. Made it tough to cook, it got cold, and other no power issues… not the hosts fault, but would of liked an offer of a discount.

We absolutely loved Moon Cabin! The cabin is the northmost property along a collection of houses on the beach which gave us free range up the beach with no other houses to cross. The deck overlooks Puget Sound and has stair access right to the beach which is accessible at low tide. Our daughter loved spending time going up and down the beach, looking for crabs, anemones, and jellyfish and spotting seals and porpoises further out. We slept with the windows open to the sound of the waves below us. The home is fully renovated with all modern appliances and amenities. Just don't plan on watching any TV while you're there - there isn't one, but you won't need it. Kayaks and crab pots were available to make the most of your natural experience. We didn't want to leave!

As an ocean lover, it was amazing to stay this close to the water. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and woke to a stunning sunset. The house was open and light filled - a real sanctuary. We also loved taking the kayaks out and exploring the shoreline. Also beautifully furnished and comfy beds.
