Crab Cottage

The back deck has a great view of the ocean, it is very close to the beach, the beds were actually comfortable, and the water in the shower was actually hot.

We had stayed at the Crab Cottage several years ago and loved it. Unfortunately this time (June '26) there were some issues. The front door lock was broken making it possible for anyone outside to unlock the door without a key, and the electricity on one half of the building was not working except for an occasional flicker, which was pretty scary. When we arrived there were power strips daisy chained over the stove top to power the WIFI because the outlet near the cable entrance was not working. Having the power cords strung through the kitchen, and limited outlets made cooking difficult (toaster, coffee maker, moving cords to use the stove). We did get in touch with the management and were told we would be issued a refund because of the issues, but after two weeks we still had not received a refund. In reaching out to Vacasa and the local manager again I learned the refund had never been requested. At the time of writing this review I have been told that this time a partial refund is in process. Those issues aside, the Crab Cottage is a cool funky beach cabin in an awesome location, and we had a good time playing on the beach. We would return had we had a different experience. The manager has told us that the issues will be fixed before any more renters are allowed to stay.

Issues with digital lock not working correctly

This was a darling cottage with direct access to the beach. We encountered a few issues and haven't heard back from Vacasa but that isn't the problem for the home owner. It was perfect for a passing through experience

Beautiful location for a peaceful getaway. Well-maintained and well-stocked for my stay, except for some problems with the electricity and internet.

We loved the easy beach access and being as close to the beach as possible. Very rustic cabin, which does allow dogs and has a wonderful back deck and lawn, which is hard to find on the shore. However, very disappointed at the complete mismatch between what was advertised on Vacasa and the actual amenities of the cottage. First of all, it is advertised as a one bedroom and is really just a studio with a 75° ladder to the loft beds which can be good for kids. The fold out couch was not comfortable at all for adults, but the remaining double bed on the main level was good. Severely disappointed that even though Vacasa showed amenities, including EV charging and drip coffee maker, and one bedroom, none of these existed. I even messaged with Vacasa before going and they verified the amenities such as the drip coffee maker were there and no Keurig machine. On arrival there was an old Keurig machine, but no trip coffee maker. So the plans I had and what I packed did not match. No EV charging which caused a significant problem for us. Wi-Fi information on Vacasa website and the check-in information was completely incorrect and luckily the good Starlink Wi-Fi access was posted on the refrigerator. Number of dogs allowed on the Vacasa website does not match number of dogs allowed on the local printout. We did enjoy that the cabin was very clean on arrival and had most amenities that were needed. Very disappointed that no one ever got back to us after multiple attempts through Vacasa as well as leaving a message on the local phone number. The bathroom was usable and had a fun rustic feeling with the half including the toilet and the small shower leaning at 3° incline. Three burner outdoor propane grill was functional although the left knob for that burner did not work. 2 gravity folding chairs are available on the back deck, but we’re quite rusty and we did not feel comfortable using them. Luckily, we had packed two of our own folding chairs. Location can’t be beat and the cabin was clean. Just bring those amenities that you need on your own. Also a note, when I was on the phone with Justin from Vacasa, I asked about some adjustment on the price since there were so many problems and mismatches from what was advertised in amenities. He was not able to make any adjustment and just said he would ask the local person to call me back. I never got a call back.
