The home was very secluded and private and a good getaway. We came in during a snow storm however and had significant difficulty finding the driveway which is located on a tight curve, completely unlit and unmarked. The driveway was treacherous icy and very difficult to access. When we called Vacasa they were quite unhelpful actually and could not provide directions. Fortunately the property owner was able to connect directly and helped us. The driveway was eventually plowed the following day and we were ultimately able to come and go after that without difficulty. My only word of caution is br careful in winter. Be sure you have an AWD vehicle with good tires etc. Otherwise it was an enjoyable spot.
We booked a different cabin in advance. A few days before our trip they called to say that cabin was no longer available. (Insert panic mode - as we had already paid in full for this & planned this with friends for New Years!) They told us it was due to the cabin not having hot water or the hot tub not working. (We also asked in advance if the hottub worked because that was #1 on our list) I asked why the last minute cancellation on us & they said it was being renovated & no hot water & the hottub didn’t work. I said, “You shouldn’t have even booked this out for us then.” They found a new cabin that ended up being amazing, but no hottub. My overall experience with Vacasa customer service is the issue. Too big for their britches. They don’t know the area when assigning you a new home. You will receive MASS emails all week from them, multiple text messages from different numbers & when you call their customer service hotline its a different person each time that has no clue what’s happening with your situation. They did refund us the difference for the first cabin but the rep who did also promised early checkin & late checkout & the next rep I talked to said that wasn’t a thing. So we were just hoping & praying to get through the weekend with the new house & make the best out of it.
The cabin was clean for the most part. The main floor was remodeled and updated but the kitchen was not well equipped to make a basic meal, the pots and pans were disgusting. Teflon was scratched off on all of them, where they were not safe to cook with and no can opener. Upstairs was outdated but clean, the beds were so uncomfortable though!
Comfortable home, remodeled recently with modern kitchen and downstairs bathroom (3 shower heads!?) and impressive wood stump coffee table. We very much enjoyed our stay xc skiing for 4 days at Salmon la Sac, Suncadia, Palouse to Cascades Trail, Coal Mines Trail and Lake Easton SP in sunshine, fresh snow and cold temperatures. Very peaceful location. Driveway and address number hard to see from blind curve on Westside Road. Long driveway could be challenging for 2WD vehicles in some snow conditions.
Critiques:
No bathtub (for bathing children)
Gas stove/oven (occasionally smelled of propane)
Pots and pans of poor quality (scorched non-stick lining) We would have brought our own cast iron pans and pots if we’d known... so something to consider.
