Our stay at the Nest on Guemes was lovely, though a few adjustments would have made it amazing. The good: The house itself and the property are gorgeous. Inside, you feel like you are on a boat and there is clear attention to detail. The property is also amazing, with a stellar view and fun fire pit down by the bluff. It is a 5 minute drive from the ferry, and also close to public beach access (NO access from the property, despite mention of stairs to the beach in the description). The bad: Check in was difficult, since no code was sent to us nor instructions for finding the key box (not on the door). This seemed like a new rental, and there are also some improvements that need to be made. First, there were no instructions for use of anything in the house--fire table, hot tub, TV, etc. We figured some of it out, but written directions are pretty standard. Second, several amenities weren't as pictured/described. There is no beach access/stairs to the beach. The fire table on the deck wasn't functional, and the hot tub was turned off when we arrived, so the water was 64 degrees and took the entire first day to heat up. The kitchen has the absolute basics, but very few dishes and no pantry staples beyond a salt and pepper shaker. Regardless, we enjoyed our girls' weekend on Guemes. With a few tweaks, this will be an amazing place to stay on the island!
