My partner and I stayed here the night before a backpacking trip so we could get an early start. It was exactly what we needed. A comfy bed, a warm shower, and a functional space to get packed up for the trip.

Very quiet and close to amenities!

I’ll provide a detailed review, but BLUF is, this place was great with one very specific issue that bothered me enough to complain. The room was spotless. Well-furnished, everything was in good shape and comfortable. Climate controls were easy to use and worked well. Adequate light throughout. Comprehensively stocked coffee and tea selection. I don’t dig either one but my wife was very impressed. There was mint tea. I thought that was cool, vs just 1 type. Bed was enormous, and linens were very good quality. The wi-fi worked great, once I got it figured out. The door code confounded me and remained a PITA, but that’s most likely just me being an old guy that can’t see small buttons well 🤷‍♂️. Quilcene is small. Availability of stuff is limited. This is not the responsibility of the accommodations, but I thought I’d provide some info: Quilbillies is surprisingly good food. It’s affordably-priced, especially considering the location. They have a wide variety of stuff, even gluten-free stuff for those with a weak bloodline. The staff are very nice, are willing to accommodate. Katkin’s cafe is good, very Seattle-y feel if you find you miss it. Everything we had there was good and the guys working there are very friendly. Gearheads is good, priced reasonably. The PNW Press is very good, I was surprised at how good it was and they have quite a wide selection of food, which was quite a surprise. I had a vanilla chai that was great. The grounds around the rental are well-maintained and open. My dog enjoyed snorting around the area. There is a bbq area, and a pavilion . It is located on the main drag, but traffic noise is not a problem. At no point did I hear any noise from outside in the room. Quilcene is small and quiet. There is one gas station and one small market. This leaves me with my one negative. And it may be something that’s only a bother to me ( and my wife) but it annoyed me plenty: the shower. Most specifically, the shower head. Sounds like I’m being nitpicky? Perhaps. The shower itself is serviceable enough. It yields enough interior space for 1 person the shower. I’d compare it to an airliner lavatory. Tight, but serviceable. Hot water is immediate and ample. Flushing toilets does not affect water temp or flow. . For reference, my wife is 5’ tall and has a small build. I am 6’1 and weigh 220. I wear an XL shirt. If you are my size or taller/larger, you will be waterboarded the entire time you are in the shower. It is as inevitable as the tides. You can’t position yourself to avoid it. You think you can, because you ran 2A in track in high school or whatnot, but you cannot. Paradoxically, my mere imp of a wife, only 2 smurfs high, experienced the same exact fate. This is because the shower head is fixed in one, weird position. Immobile. You will not rinse anything below navel height. You will have soap in your crack after you shower. It will make a 7 mile hike through the woods unpleasant. This is my sole criticism.

The room is just right for two people. From this location we did a lot of hiking and site seeing. It was so quiet, we didn't even hear the neighbors coming and going. It's a nice place to stay.

Could use bigger coffee cups. But loved our stay.
