Rating
This home made a great home base for our adventures in the mountains.
We stayed for a volleyball tournament at CWU and the house was fabulous for our girls! They thoroughly enjoyed the games tables, the bunk rooms, the hot tub and the large kitchen to cook and eat together. We will definitely return!
I booked this accommodation as a getaway for our family of 13 which included 5 small children. The accommodation had a beautiful view, a well-stocked kitchen, and lots of places to sleep but was lacking in many ways. The over arching issue was the lack of transparency with issues of this accommodation before we arrived. I am very disappointed with Vacasa. Below is a brief summary of some of the issues. 1. An abundance of trash: Upon arriving, we had to make our way around 17 bags of trash from the last set of guests. It was communicated that it would be picked up ASAP. It was there for half of our stay. We also had zero trash bags and ones were not delivered until 24 hours later. I had to go out and buy cleaning supplies to keep the place clean during our stay. 2. We then walked out to the hot tub deck the plexiglass was broken. It looked awful and with 5 small children, I did not feel comfortable having them on the deck. I called within an hour of arrival to report this safety issue and nothing was done about it. 3. Burn ban: The accommodation stated it had a fire pit therefore we took up an entire trunk hauling firewood and supplies for s’mores. There had been a burn ban for at least 3 weeks before we arrived. Although Vacasa cannot help there being a burn ban, they should have informed us in advance so we did not bother bringing all that wood and disappointing our grandchildren. 4. Plan B: Make s’mores in the fireplace. Nope. The fireplace was not working and Vacasa appeared to know that before we arrived but we were not informed. 5. Missing game table. The accommodation advertised a ping pong. It was not there and our kids are too small for billiards. This was a big disappointment. 6. So no fire, no games for small children, then we went to plug in our video games. Nope. This was against house rules and it was stated there would be a $50 charge if we plugged in our video games. 7. The bunk bed bedroom had no curtains. This made the children get up at first light; way too early. There are several other issues regarding the upkeep of the accommodation but the items listed above made it such that our grandchildren were not at entertained as in other locations. Vacasa has offered a refund of $241.20. Although this money is appreciated, it in no way covers the embarrassment and disappointment in front of my family of this accommodation. Vacasa offered lots of apologies but not much help in solving the problems listed above. If you were to check my prior reviews (across platforms), they have all been 5 stars. This is my first 2-star review. I also have photos to document my concerns but I do not see a format for uploading them. Nothing like flying nine people from Florida, plus the four from Lacey, WA, to be disappointed.
