Takundewide Retreat is described as a charming, family-friendly getaway that consistently meets expectations and offers a peaceful, relaxing stay. Guests appreciated the comfortable beds, cozy furnishings, thoughtful layout, and inviting spaces that gave families room to gather and unwind. The home was repeatedly praised for being very clean, well maintained, and well equipped, with tasteful decor and helpful touches throughout. Its setting near Lake George was a standout, with guests enjoying the beautiful grounds, easy lake access, and a quiet location ideal for a woodsy retreat. The scenic waterfront surroundings, lovely swimming area, and sunset views added to the appeal. Guests also enjoyed the loft, porch, fire pit, fireplace, games, and strong communication that helped make stays easy and enjoyable.

Not to mention, streaming movies on the flatscreen TV or catching up on emails can be done in no time with high-speed WiFi available for your convenience. What's nearby: Sitting right on the lake, you and your guests will have no lack of activities to embark on each day such as swimming, fishing, boating, and so much more! If you want a change of scenery from the water, simply head over to Dunham Bay Marsh (two-and-a-half miles), Buck Mountain Trailhead (five miles), or Lake George proper where you will find a plethora of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. Things to know: Parts of this home are air-conditioned from approximately Memorial Day until Labor Day each year. This home does not have central air conditioning. High-speed WiFi. This cottage house was great. What wasn’t fun was on the day we were to begin our vacation on Loon Lake we were contacted by Vacasa that we couldn’t rent the house with only 4 hours before move-in. Fortunately this Takundewide house was available so it all worked out well.

There were many issues with this property, and none were addressed during our stay. There is no mini-blind or window covering on the first-floor bathroom. This large window is directly overlooking the toilet and shower. This is not acceptable!! There is a house next door with a second-floor window looking directly into this bathroom. The toilet is not securely attached to the floor. It banged loudly against the floor/wall. The property is advertised as having a wood burning fireplace. However, there is a sign on the fireplace that it is unusable. This property is managed by Vacasa. We contacted them upon check-in and all they did was send a request to the local staff. There was no response from the local staff throughout our stay. There is a Keurig coffee maker but no coffee pods. There are no basic supplies such as creamer, sugar, salt, pepper, etc. This is an expensive property, definitely not worth the price. Other items of note: The property sleeps 7; however, the kitchen table is small and only has 4 chairs.

This home was immaculately clean with comfortable beds and well equipped. The grounds are lovely. The spiral staircase to the loft is very steep and narrow so it is difficult to take luggage upstairs.

Takundewide is a wonderful, family-friendly setting on the absolutely beautiful Lake George. We have stayed in various Takundewide cabins, including 28, for more than 25 years. This year, we found 28 to be in need of some TLC, especially considering its high price. We shared our concerns with Vacasa. On the plus side, there was plenty of sleeping space for our group of five, and the beds were clean and comfortable.
