Overview
We will send you all necessary pre-arrival and check-in information after booking. This can include guest instructions, notices, and other helpful information. What We Love A restful pastoral retreat from the city, the Benton Farmhouse is the perfect place for large families and friend groups to reconnect and reflect with the people who mean the most to you. Spacious, and boasting old-world charm, this beautifully restored historic home radiates an abundance of warmth. Conveniently located on Route 14A in the middle of the Wine region of the Finger Lakes, this home is perfectly located to tour and explore the area. It can also serve as a relaxing base for wedding parties using multiple local wedding venues. Enjoy cozy movie viewings from the comfort of the spacious living room's soft seating. Engage in some playful competition over a game of chess under the glow of the library's lamps, or any of the many games for all ages in the living room or the huge recreation room. When hunger arises, head for the well-equipped kitchen and play chef amongst the full suite of appliances and ample meal prep space. Serving your dishes will be a breeze at the expansive, formal dining table. After eating, enjoy a night in while playing Ping-Pong in the wood-lined recreation room/TV-watching area. Mix your game nights with delicious concoctions prepared at the recreation room bar. With six large bedrooms to choose from, rest assured that no one's comfort will go unattended to. Each of the rooms offers soft linens, vintage decor pieces and furniture, and cool air - thanks to the home's partial air-conditioning. Additional interior perks include a private washer/dryer, a high chair, internet access, and office space with a desk and printer in the quiet library. After a couple of front door steps, the lower level of the house has a bathroom and bed available. Outside, enjoy the country breeze while grilling or sitting in front of the dancing flames in the fire pit. Enormous lawns encourage spirited games of corn hole and badminton, while the large driveway can be set up for pickleball, all of which are supplied. When exploring the surrounding area, be sure to check out the numerous regional wineries, excellent local restaurants (we can suggest our favorites), charming Penn Yan (“Penn' for the Pennsylvanians and “Yan” for the Yankees who settled the area in the early 1800s), the scenic Finger Lakes, Keuka Lake Outlet trail, Keuka Lake State Park, Finger Lakes Rail Riders (just around the corner), Canandaigua Country Club, or further up the road, Hunt Hollow Ski Club. Don't be surprised if you encounter horse-drawn buggies sharing local roads on your way to Windmill Market just south of Penn Yan, which hosts dozens of shops, produce, and food to enjoy. This is a wonderful property with plenty of room to spread out both inside and out. The house was immaculate and well located for the wedding we were attending 15 minutes down the road at Crispin Hill. Would 100% stay here again.
The home was beautiful. The history of the home was interesting. We enjoyed looking at the book room and delving into history. Fascinating!
Our family group of 11 was very comfortable here as this house has lots of room to spread out and a well-stocked kitchen with plenty of dishes. The backyard was great for playing frisbee and roasting s-mores.
We hosted a board game retreat for some friends and the house very much suited our needs. The older furniture at times was not the most comfortable since we were doing a lot of sitting while playing games, but overall we loved the space and would consider going back in the future. At one point there was a leak in one of the windows (it rained all Memorial Day weekend), but the property managers were very prompt in coming out to fix the issue.
We had a lovely weekend stay to celebrate a Hobart and William Smith graduate. We had 13 people around the table for dinner in the well equipped dining room, and 9 sleeping over in the comfy beds. The home has three full baths which made it fairly easy for everyone to get enough bathroom time. We didn't take advantage of the ping pong table in the additional family room, but it looked like a really nice one. The home is right on a busy road, but there is a fence along the front of the property that gives plenty of privacy, and the road was fairly quiet at night.
