Beautiful clean home in wonderful mountain setting. Clean and Peaceful, thanks so much for opening your home and property to us!
My wife and I selected this home for our vacation/anniversary and could not have been more impressed as we started our travels. We were amazed as we started our ascent up the mountain to get to the property it was beautiful, a bit rugged but well worth the journey up the mountain, we seen mule deer and whitetail deer, was hoping to see bear or maybe an elk, we did not. We got to the home at the top at approximately 8550 feet. The home is beautiful and has everything you could need, we had a snow storm overnight and when we woke up is was breathtaking with the snow all over the mountain and as far out as you can see with mountains everywhere covered in snow though It did not take long for the snow to melt, maybe 4 hours and it was all gone except for the mountain tops from a far. The valley below at the back of the house barely got any snow. The home had everything we needed. We did have an issue with the microwave, it just didnt want to work so the host drove another microwave up the mountain for us. Then the lock to the door decided to quit working so we was stuck outside for a short bit, all got handled very quickly, thank you for that BTW, it was appreciated as we had our groceries with us. The views are second to none, if I could share the pics I took you would want to go right now and we had an owl behind the house he was quite shocked to see us as were of him as well. Lots of little critters running around none to be feared. The fireplace is a nice touch for those cold nights. This home is on plenty of land, we walked all around and enjoyed our 1 week stay at this home. I would not say it is close to anything so I would suggest getting what you need Woodland park, then your just leaving for the fun stuff which there is plenty to see and do, we went to the dinosaur musuem, Pikes Peak, Manitou cliff dwellings, and many other things to do. All but 1 restaurant was great. The people are friendly. If the happiness meter went higher than 10 we would say 100% yes we'll worth it!
The views were amazing from every direction and the house is beautiful.
The views are absolutely breathtaking from almost every room. You will not be disappointed. It is not as far from a grocery as some have suggested, maybe 30 minutes. Apparently some guests expect it to be like at Gatlinburg where there is a grocery store as soon as you come down the mountain. Those folks should stay elsewhere. For the bad, the pots and pans should be thrown out. For the money we paid the owners should just get a new set periodically. I am sure they don't use the ones there when they visit. We bought frozen strawberries planning on using the blender only to find it was broken. The telescope does not appear to work. There are 8 electric candles on the table, but only two work. We would have had to drive 2 hours to get batteries for them. The grill also does not work. The burners need to be replaced. There is a blue tooth speaker in the kitchen but no way to power it so guests can use it. There is some kind os silly game in the library that ruins it for adults who want to relax and read a book. Great for kids perhaps but useless for adult guests. The worst thing was the pots and pans that shave been thrown out long ago. Still we enjoyed our stay, just want to provide an honest review.
My family and me stayed here twice this year and have already talked about coming back. It is a great hideaway from the chaos of city life. It is close enough to a big town (Woodland Park/Colorado Springs) for groceries or if something more is needed, but nice and remote with fantastic mountain views!!!
