Garrett Beach House

This property was far from meeting even basic expectations for cleanliness and vacation friendly accommodations. From musty unit smells to tripped circuits, to the appearance of a dump site for rental accessories and tools around the outside of the house, dead vegetation and water filled planters, tattered blinds and soggy patio furniture, nearly inoperable door jams and almost broken locks, this place reminds me of the bare minimum transactional type of rental you get in a college town.

Unfortunately, this property did not match what was advertised at the time of booking. The listing showed a full kitchen on the downstairs level, but upon arrival, it was clear that the area had been previously flooded. The entire downstairs kitchen had been removed, with only temporary cabinets left in its place. This felt misleading, and I expressed my concerns to the Vacasa representative I spoke with. While I did receive an apology, there was no offer of compensation, which I found disappointing given that I did not receive the amenities I paid for. Additionally, the property DOES NOT have a washer and dryer. While it’s true that these were not listed as amenities, I overlooked that detail, assuming that a home of this size would include them. In over 20 years of renting homes in the Cherry Grove area, this is the first time I’ve encountered a property without laundry facilities. Overall, my experience with this rental was disappointing, and I do not plan to book through Vacasa again.

The home is a great location with the beach just across the street. The backyard and decks were quite lovely and were just like the pictures. The downstairs area was quite filthy when we arrived but once we informed the property management, they sent someone out quickly to take care of the mold flies that covered the downstairs bathroom and dead bugs throughout all downstairs. It wasn’t clear in the home’s description that the upstairs and downstairs are completely separated with no stairs to access inside. You have to go outside to get to the other floor. The downstairs also did not have a refrigerator or sink so if you have a larger party it made it difficult going to the upstairs for everything. The AC downstairs did not cool the 2 bedrooms and there was a musty smell that did not go away. Overall, location and the upstairs portion of the house were perfect.

We rent beach houses often and wow what an absolute disaster and embarrassment for our family's trip. Upon arriving at the house and walking around the perimeter, there were fishing Luers and hooks left everywhere from the driveway, to the grassy area and back deck (and we have a 2 year old child). Then the patio lounger on the back deck was completely broken and there was just a cushion thrown over it. The deck table was broken and collapsed on our 5 year old during our stay. Upon entering the downstairs unit there was a smell of mildew and rugs that were all damp. Walls are unfinished and furniture is rusted at the bottoms. (Looks as if the bottom of the home was just enclosed which would make sense for things to be damp and rusted). When entering the upstairs the rugs were absolutely filthy, and vacuum cleaner would not even work properly to clean myself. Dirty dishes were left from previous people in the dishwasher, the cabinets filthy and unorganized like someone was in a rush and chucked them in the cabinet. We were left very little towels for multiple families and no washer and dryer available. I was in contact with Vacasa from the moment we walked in and just kept getting a message "We will contact the local team". No team ever contacted us and messages, photos and phone calls were made daily. There was a burn hole in our child's comforter even though there is a sign that says no smoking allowed?! I have never stayed in such a disaster in my life. This was multiple families staying here not a house rented for some college party. Totally embarrassing and UNSAFE. Management does not care at all and are completely rude. This was our first and last time using Vacasa. What a joke and a nightmare. Oh forgot to mention watch out for all the roaches. Do yourself a favor DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Me and my family arrived at the property and the outside was nice and looked like the pictures. We went inside and immediately we were confused, there us no stares inside the house so to access the upstares you must go outside and use those stairs. The kitchen is upstares so it's not the best set up for family. The downstairs is DISGUSTING!! Again there is no kitchen on that floor not even a refrigerator. There was sand all in the floor. My Granddaughter couldn't crawl on the floor without her legs and feet being BLACK!!! not to mention the ROACH we found in one of the bedrooms (was very big) A very big problem we had was the downstairs floors being soaked. In one of the bedrooms the rug under the bed was SOAKED!! we could see water seaping up from the floors. We couldn't walk around in the house without our shoes!!!! Overall, this place is nasty and I do not recommend!!

Need a quick stay for a sick family member in the area the home was a great find! I will do a vacation there for sure.
