Everyone was nice and enjoying each other’s family
Upon arrival - before even entering the room- first impressions are everything... the hallway carpet was soaking wet. Each step water literally bubbling up under my feet. Upon entering the unit - we noticed a nail sticking up from the door frame directly in the center. Since I have small children - I went to the front desk and asked if they would be able to hammer down the nail or I could do so myself. I was told since I did not book through the hotel directly they could not help me. This issue was never fixed. Day 2 - we wake up and hand wash dishes since the dishwasher had a tag in it stating do not use - broken. Upon finishing dishes and re entering the kitchen we notice standing water on the floor. Turns out the hose to the dishwasher completely busted resulting in the water. Repairs were made and we do appreciate that. Front desk once again wouldn't even let us borrow a single towel to clean up the mess since we didn't book through them. Night 2 around 5 pm - construction crews came and cleared the beach area where we had direct access too. Unfortunately this never reopened during our week long stay. As a result we had to walk down 3-5 blocks every day just to access the beach front. The crews worked 24/7 - constant noise and heavy machinery everywhere for the shore restoration. On top of this inconvenience- the pool was also closed 2 days of our stay. So the amenities were not as listed. The unit itself appeared updated but we did notice multiple roaches. I reported pictures and videos and nothing was done. If you don't book directly through the Palace Resort themselves - forget any kind of favors from the staff there at all.
The condo appears to be newly renovated. However, the dishwasher was broken and began leaking (without our use - water randomly began pooling onto the middle of the kitchen floor) so we arent 100% convinced that it was solely the dishwasher causing the leak. The resort directed us to vacasa with the problem of the leak. Vacasa sent someone randomly a couple of times with no prior notice or warning until we called to complain so the 3rd time someone showed up and called as they were walking into the unit. I was there but didn't answer because I was on the balcony and didnt recognize the number calling. My children were in the living room so he simply unlocked the door and walked in with no knocking. Unprofessional and unsafe.
The condo was great, especially for the price. Spotlessly clean, loads of towels and pillows and small touches thay made the stay easier. The hotel itself was kind of rundown as all the hotels in Myrtle are, but this condo was pretty recently renovated. Two balconies, two bathrooms, two bedrooms all in good, clean condition and a kitchen big enough to actually cook in. The views were decent for a first floor room. The pool and hot tubs are right below the balconies, but it wasn't noisy when we stayed. We went as a family of four with one kid in the bedroom, one on the sofa pullout, and the adults in the master and fit just fine. Perfect for a family vacation.
The price fits the home. My issue is the lack of maintenance. Whoever owns the property I rented doesn't care how it looks. The paint was coming off the walls in the front bathroom. There was rust around the doors that led to the balcony. If I was renting property, I would take pride in the upkeep.
Enjoyed my stay will advise to be back very soon
