Mara Laguna is a resort community tucked between a lagoon and the Caribbean Sea on Ambergris Caye. Situated about a mile north of central San Pedro, it is very easily accessible. Fly into San Pedro Airport and take a one-and-a-half-mile drive north on Laguna Drive to reach the resort, or fly into Belize City 36 miles southwest and get on a water taxi or motorboat ferry to access Ambergris Caye--a trip that usually takes about 75 minutes. Close by you can visit the beautiful Boca del Rio Park, good for swimming and fishing. Step inside and you will be greeted by blue accents, stylish decor, and an open layout that will allow for easy mingling from room to room. When everyone works up an appetite, the full kitchen features an interactive layout complete with bar seating so the chef of the group can take advantage of the major appliances to whip up tasty meals while still being a part of the conversation. When days come to a close, the TV and free WiFi will be more than ready to assist in sharing memories on social media or streaming favorite movies. Well equipped. Good air conditioning. Lagoon and pool provide relaxation. Crocodile likes to sun on the dock.

It was a perfect location for us. Close to everything we could want. We loved sitting on the relaxing patio looking at the lagoon. Entertained by the crocodile on the dock and iguanas during the day and the beautiful lights at night. The house is well equipped, we especially appreciated extra towels and blankets. The concierge, Gineli, is amazing at her job and ever so helpful. We would definitely stay again!!

The place is big. Pretty close to town, although it would be best to have a golfcart. The place is old and dirty however. The apartment is cluttered and dim on the inside. There are lots of towels under the sink, unfortunately they smell like smoke. There were tons of mosquitos, probably because it is on the lake. We found animal feces on our bed--the property manager told us that it was gecko poop and that it's not a big deal. I don't ever leave reviews, but this place had none so we were fooled into staying there. I am leaving a review so others don't get suckered into staying here as well. It is expensive and not worth what you pay. Stay here only if there are no other options.. and even then, look hard for anywhere else.

Morning coffee with the crocodiles put a smile on our faces. Mara Laguna is a great location with easy access to San Pedro and up north.

Location, location, location. This is our sixth trip to Ambergris Island in as many years. We love to do things north of the bridge as well as the town. This gave us easy access to both. We enjoyed being on the first floor along with having grocery stores nearby. The condo backs up to a large lagoon and morning coffee on the back porch with the crocodiles on the boat dock put a smile on our face. I highly recommend staying here. Don't forget to visit Point Lina and attending the Mayan Experience.
