What's nearby: This property is located on the shores of Maya Beach, a quiet and relaxing section of the peninsula known for its beautiful beaches and great restaurants. In the surrounding area, you'll find a bowling alley, a spa, and a scuba center. If you want to venture into the jungle, drive up to Cockscomb Forest to go bird watching, hiking, swimming in waterfalls, or tubing down the river. We had a great week at Ocean’s Edge! It is a sweet little cottage, bathroom and kitchen have been updated, and I loved all the wood details like the ceiling! The beach is extremely private and quiet and that was the highlight for me. There was one person staying in the other cottage but she didn’t come outside much so we had the beach completely to ourselves unless someone was out for a walk and walking past. If you crave being around people, this may not be for you. If you are a beach bum like me that wants complete quiet to read and soak up rays all day, you’ll love it. If it’s your first time in the area, highly recommend a car or golf cart and many, many trips into Placencia for wonderful food, authentic culture, and kind locals. We love it here.

The house is located on a nice beach in a nice area of Placencia. We wanted to enjoy this house for that alone. But it was simply not enough to make up for the AC not working (absolutely repressive heat inside; tried sleeping outside before we had to leave the property in the middle of the night with heat exhaustion), nor make up for the one bathroom being down a steep staircase from the bedroom, and certainly not make up for Vacasa/property manager not even responding to us while we were having issues with the property then responding asking us for a favorable review!! This was truly the worst housing rental experience I've had but added a star for the great location. Stay away.

We loved the privacy and the fact that it was right on the beach. The beach palapa for shade was perfect for relaxing/reading. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store down the road. The bed was comfortable and there are lots of windows to open for cross breezes to flow through. We didn't have a vehicle and Shan Les from Vacasa helped us get drinking water, etc. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
