We arrived right at dark and everything was set up with lights on for our arrival. The cleanest place with everything we needed! Our only complaint was that we had ended up renting both houses for our one family of 6, which I didn’t realize and that want states anywhere until I received the codes for the houses. Amazing stay and wish we could have been there for longer!
Sunrise on the dock with coffee watching all the natural beauty … stingrays , egrets, pelicans etc.. AMAZING
View is great but having no AC wasn't fun. There were 2 fans that helped at night but the ceiling fan on the 2nd floor barely moved.
We rented both cabanas for our family of 6 adults over the Christmas holidays. What a wonderful paradise to share together. The setting in our opinion is the best all along Placencia peninsula, private and yet still convenient to other resorts, restaurants, shops, etc. The dock and the covered seating area far out over the water was by far the crown jewel of the property. When the weather was nice, we lived out there - drinking coffee in the morning, swimming, reading, cocktail hour, etc. The views are beautiful in every direction, and the swimming and kayaking from the shore is wonderful. If you spend all your time outdoors, this is the perfect haven! Here's the few issues we had, and I hope it's not everyone's experience from now on: 1. Make sure you have the code. We rented both houses and I was sent only 1 code (along with a somewhat confusing message about entering the second house). I asked a couple of days in advance if I needed another code, we only got one, and was told the caretaker would hand us the keys. We arrived in the dark, only to be locked out of the second house, and no caretaker around. All of us, on all our phones, tried EVERY Vacasa number and email to no avail. After an hour's worth of frustration, someone finally emailed a second code. The Vacasa person told us we should have gotten the second code before (we didn't). All the other messages we left that night were responded to the next day or days later, asking if we could got in?! 2. The cabanas, in their day, must have been great. They're nicely designed and tastefully decorated. However, they're worn and in need of a deep cleaning. Unfortunately, we found droppings (let's just say too large for mice!), all around and in our beds. I felt bad to bother the local Vacasa person again since it was over the holidays, but I emailed them, and they sent someone over with a large trap. This is a remote area, so I understand critters get in, but I've been going to Belize for over 30 years, and stayed in all kinds of accommodations, and never had this experience. We love nature, and would expect wildlife, like geckos, spiders, etc, but I can't welcome that kind of creature! :) 3. Lastly, we were only provided with 1 bath towel each, and the beds were made with the only sheets in the place. This may sound privileged or fussy, but for the money we paid to rent both properties for 9 nights, providing extra towels would be a simple & practical fix for Vacasa. It was humid and rained, so the towels were constantly damp. I read a similar review about this, and Vacasa replied that they should have contacted them to ask for more towels (where even are they? In Belize, Houston?), but really, you shouldn't have to do that. My complaints aside, you can't beat this location. Once again - the grounds and outdoor space is amazing. It was great to have the property all to ourselves too. If you don't mind the imperfections mentioned, Ocean's Edge is a wonderful property.
