Great home

I was originally going to put good, but I ended up putting great because even though we did have a couple of hiccups, Lourdes and the team fixed them right away and that’s why I went up in stars. We had a great time. The house is beautiful. We absolutely loved the outdoor space with the Palapa. We played cards almost every night.

This was our first trip to Ambergris-- and we loved it. Even though we were there in December/January, we encountered unexpected heavy rains which impacted the road to the house. This house is pretty far south compared to town, so expect to rent a golf cart and that the sand road could have big/deep puddles, bumps, potholes. The result is getting to town can be a bit of an effort. Despite this, we enjoyed the adventure. The house itself is a bit quirky (top floor bathroom opens to a bunk room and is separated by a curtain) but this is shown in the pictures. Realize that the pictures show the house when in its prime-- like many places near the water/tropics, things are more worn. We were able to use the dock at the resort down the road for fishing pickups and enjoyed stopping by Stax to end our days (great people!). Make sure to bring bug spray.

We were greatly anticipating our first ever visit to Belize and staying in this house as a trip of a lifetime (my wife and I work in education so a lot of resources were dedicated to this family trip)-- it all looked incredible. However, hours before our flight was scheduled to leave for Belize, the area was in the middle of the Cone of Uncertainty for Hurricane Beryl. Thus, we decided not to go on the trip. This decision was made after speaking to the local employees of Vacasa and others-- they told us everything was being boarded up, bottled water was already running out, etc. There was an optional evacuation order for residents and many businesses closed down to allow employees to get to their families. This hurricane was record setting in so many ways . I understand we chose not to have travel insurance (who expected this?), but every other group involved in our trip has been understanding that this was extraordinary times (and provided refunds even when their policy stated otherwise). NOT Vacasa. They are saying we should have bought insurance 2 weeks before hand. Once the storm was named, we could not do so. So, my poor rating has to do with Vacasa-- the local contacts will be great, the bigger company is unresponsive and uncaring.

This was the perfect space to get away from the hustle and bustle of San Pedro and just unwind. The pool was heavenly and the house itself was dreamy--would love to return in the future.
