Apartment at Villa Maya -Gold Standard and Certified

Overall this home is fine, however missing some key amenities for a visit in June. There is AC ONLY in the bedroom. This makes it very hot in the living room, as there is only a ceiling fan and no other fans provided (I sometimes had to retreat to the bedroom to cool off). No hairdryer provided as advertised. The kitchenette is modest at best - no bowls, very few pans and a college fridge, along with a bar sink to wash full sized dishes in. The bed was fine - it is a queen size and firm. We walked to everything, as San Ignacio is relatively small; however, it is very hilly and that might not suit everyone. All shuttle services know the location of the house, so they all did pick up/drop off there. There are two markets at the bottom of the hill and a great fruit / veggie stand along the side of the road near the markets as well.

We spent two weeks at Villa Maya in San Ignacio, Belize. It was nice to have our own space, an area to cook meals when we chose to do so and a small fridge. A seperate bedroom with a queen bed made it feel more homelike than a hotel room. The concierge was also helpful full to book a couple of tours. The home and yard was well cared for by the amazing caretaker. I highly recommend staying at Villa Maya.

The place was clean, quiet, and a convenient distance from downtown and other amenities.

We enjoyed our stay here, a very nice 1-bedroom apartment with lots of space for a couple. We (couple in our 60s) did not have a car. We found it too far to walk into town, but there is a grocery store and several restaurants within easy walking distance. Taxis are easily available and cheap to go further. The apartment is in a quiet area; we especially appreciated the washer and dryer!
