the full wall of sliding doors and windows overlooking the ocean is wonderful. 30 feet from sea wall gives a wonderful experience. staff was wonderful and attentive. older unit but quite well maintained.

We stayed to attend our grand daughter’s graduation, and we enjoyed our stay just as we did 11 years ago. Thank the Bali Kai for making wonderful chapter of our book of life.

I will preface this by saying that I understand it’s not uncommon to see a roach here and there in Hawaii and other tropical areas. However, that was not the case here. Since I didn’t see this mentioned in any other review, I wanted to make sure I warned any future travelers considering this condo of the situation. We are very clean and did not leave any food out when we left the condo on our second full day there. When we returned that evening, we found at least five roaches running around the kitchen when we turned the lights on. I’m not sure if the place wasn’t cleaned sufficiently prior to our arrival or if the guests prior to us were just particularly dirty, but this was a major issue that made us not want to even use the kitchen, which was the reason we opted to stay in a condo over a hotel room in the first place. Giving the place two stars for the view but just be warned that you may stumble into an infestation regardless of how clean you are.

Enjoyed sitting on lanai each morning and evening watching surfers, birds and fish

One of the things I really like about Kona Bali Kai is the location. It’s about 3 miles south of the business district and not quite so crowded . You can easily get out on Alii Drive and begin your adventure to any place on the island. As far as the unit, I was very pleased. As a matter of fact, I am a returning customer from last year. The unit was very clean, comfortable, and well provisioned (not food, but all other kitchen utensils). This is an ocean front unit and the views from the balcony are nothing short of spectacular. When the surf is right it’s a great area to watch surfers or bring your own board and try it yourself. Surfers were going into the water right off the property. The unit faces west and the sunsets are incredible. No A/C but there are two doors to the balcony and multiple ceiling fans (if needed). We always had a nice breeze coming off the water. The next time I visit Kona I will certainly check to see if this unit is available.
