Head in the other direction to popular beach destinations like Lyman's (a great surfing spot just under a half mile away). Both Magic Sands Beach and Pahoehoe Beach Park are just one mile away. Local take-out favorite Da Poke Shack, with its famously fresh tuna, is less than a block away from the condo - perfect for take-out you can enjoy on the beach. Breakfast food fans will love the Island Style breakfast (with locally grown macadamia nuts) at Island Lava Java just over two miles from the condo. The view, the location, the complex, the unit, parking - were all good. Near the elevator. We spent a lot of time on the balcony watching and listening to the waves crash into shore. If the surf is right, you may see surfers close by. They were getting into the water right in front of the complex. The sunsets from here are second to none. The view from the balcony is spectacular. In the distance we saw whales from the balcony. Inside the unit we had all the amenities we needed. There were only two of us and we each had our own bathroom. The kitchen had all the appliances, pots, pans, dishes, ... you would expect in a rental condo. The washer/dryer was a great convenience. The wi-fi was great and during the evening we would stream movies/shows, no lag in service. No AC but we didn't need it during our February stay. There are 3 ceiling fans to keep the air moving and two patio doors to let the fresh air in. The location is good for getting around the Island. While we had some long driving days we covered most of the island from here, including visits to Hilo, Volcanos Natl Park, the South Point, and the Waipio Valley area. Oh yea, you are just a couple miles outside of Kona where you'll find restaurants, activities, and shopping. There is a nearby Costco and Safeway too. There is a farmers market about a quarter mile away (Fri-Sun) and another outdoor market (gifts, food, ...) about a 1/2 mile away (both in the direction of Kona). The airport is about 30 minutes away. This was our 3rd stay at Kona Bali Kai but the 1st for this unit. If we visit the Big Island again, we'll be checking into rentals here.
