Haleiwa Cottage - 30-Night Minimum

Outside of the location which is great the house is in disrepair and the owner is negligent (didn't pay water bill, more on that later). We arrived and there were dead cockroaches under the sink cabinets. Someone left there sleep apnea nose piece right under our bed. The fans are all super dusty and the AC filters haven't been washed in forever causing us to break out in allergies. There was no oversight here on the cleanliness. It gets worse: the owner didn't pay the water bill and they shut off our water. The house manager didn't respond to any of our texts (later found out she was on vacation) and the customer service team did the best job they could but we were without water for nearly 8 hours, which means no bathrooms, no drinking water, nothing. To make matters worse, when the water came back on the water heater broke, which took another 12 hours for someone to come fix it. This house is in serious disrepair. The couches have warped cardboard underneath them so that you don't sink right through to the floor (quite literally, I had to remove them and fix them so that we'd have a properly working couch). The backyard is full of the original owner's junk. The washing machine broke while we were there which required a few days between repairs. I was hoping they'd bring someone the next day but it took 3 days and they just replaced the whole unit. The master bedroom has holes in the wall and leftover tape from someone trying to hang a mirror, the TV was broken when we arrived and we had to help Freddie (who is awesome btw he's the repair man and he needs a raise) put it up. The list goes on and on.

Great location. Location was great. Loved the location.

Awesome back lanai with cooling breezes and beautiful garden. Super close walks to multiple beaches, harbor access for tours, and access to town for happy hour, and supplies. Our family loved the stay.

Cottage is in great location, a less than 5-minute walk to beach or to historic Hale'iwa town. We found the cottage very clean, charming and functional, so much so that we already booked for next year!

On the plus side the beds were comfortable, it was close to the harbor and shops and restaurants. There were 3 peacocks that frequented the block and the cottage. On the minus the couch was very uncomfortable, the neighborhood is sketchy; several homeless ( they didnt bother me. They said good morning a few times. ,several houses on the block look like shacks with junk all over their yard. It was disconcerting that there were 2 rat bate stations one on the side of the house and one in the back ( on the plus side i saw no rats!) There was also a rolled up wet 5by7 area rug by the front door. The drain the the hallway bathroom did not work well and 8 to 10 inches of water would collect and wouldn't drain for hours. I had a nice visit but Im good with roughing it but not for the money i paid.
